  1. All I can say is it is one of the big six. We had a bit of a do today as I pointed out that as this was a credit agreement based on a quarterly bill which without permission from me had gone to monthly bills I was fairly certain they had broken financial regs somewhere. They say this meter reading problem was industry wide. ---------- Post added 15-09-2014 at 20:22 ---------- The bill is paid on receipt of it. No debt nor has there been.
  2. My meters are being read every month. This generates a bill every month when I am supposed to pay on quarterly. I was told this was because many meter readers are not trained on taking both gas and electricity reading so they have to come out more than once..I am a bit stumped on this one..am I missing something here?
  3. I have called trading standards but at present do not have a correct home address. I have to thank the person on this thread who pmed me with the name of a roofer. I met him today and he seems a careful and methodical person who had a good look at everything. It appears to be sortable without any more new gutters. X
  4. I think I have been a real fool with this. I will see what a new roofer has to say on a remedy...if there is one other than pulling the whole thing down.
  5. Had a surveyor round who looked at the internal damage but did not go on the roof. From the water coming in he said the gutters were to blame and he woukd send a report. Got another tradesman coming tomorrow...more money going
  6. My 93 year old mum and i have paid £1000 for new gutters. These leaked. The builders returned and stated the fault lay with my neighbors gutters on both sides. Both neighbors got new roofs, one of the neighbours used the same trademan as us. Remedial work was done on ours which cost a further £600.00 charged by the same trademan who refused to do remedial work unless paid. This trademan admitted that the lip of the gutter and the edge of the roof was badly aligned. He also advised I needed a new roof..it is 9 to 10 years old. I gave hime a letter advising unless the gutter was remedied I would put it in legal hands. His language to me at that point was very abusive. I have just gone into my mums room the wall is saturated. I cannot bear to think of this man coming out again but I also cannot really afford new gutters. What does the forum advise.
  7. I spoke with npower. A pert female told me that she was sorry I did not like the alteration to their terms and conditions but they were rolling them out nationwide..I then pointed out that there was an unexplained hole in these policies and procedures namely if anyone of a household bar the bill payer refused them access to their credit acount did it mean a penalty of a higher tariff...she went thru the information and had to say she did not know. Neither did she know whether any late payment would impact on the credit scores of other household members. She stated she would get back to me on this. I am switching to another provider after my questions have been answered..they have had almost three weeks to provide one. I just detest the orwellian stance this company appears to be following! Thanks for your comments everyone.
  8. I have a complaint with npower. They sent thru their new terms and conditions..50 pages of them. The first couple of pages state that they now wish to credit check not just the bill holder but those who have a connection to the usage. This I take to mean other members of the household of legal age as...they go on to explain the bill payer must ask permission from individuals connected for a credit check to be done on them as it would leave a footprint on the credit account. . However there is nothing within the terms and conditions to say what would happen if this request was refused...would this lead to be put on a higher tarriff..what would be the penalty...and if there is one, is it legal for them to apply it. So far I have had no answers from npower on this matter although they have read through the document themselves. Anyone have any idea on rights in this matter..
