Its fun and free. Meet at 11 am outside Cathedral Check the website for more details http://www.sheffieldwalkinggroup.org.uk/
  5. The group is run by people in their 20s and 30s for their peer group. Its really a friendship group and people tend to form their closest friends around their own age group. Nationally the aim is to attract younger people to this amazing activity who probably believe like you that the majority of Ramblers are over 50 and therefore is probably not an activity for their own age group. People in their 20s and 30s tend to be the age group of people who move to a new city with work and without a family and the group has been a brilliant way of making new friends and developing a support network with other people who don't have the time constraints imposed by having a family yet. Its not really old fashioned but actually a sign that the Ramblers is forward thinking and meeting the specific needs of disparate groups of people. Our 200+ members clearly feel that the group is meeting their needs whilst i'm sure your group is meeting your needs. I do agree that mixing is great and we love having joint walks other national Ramblers groups as a great way of meeting new people of all ages so please get in touch if you would like to set up a joint walk. I hope that is helpful. All the best and happy walking!
  6. There are actually many options open to you. The SheffieldRamblers welcome all age groups http://www.sheffieldramblers.org/aboutus.php There is a Sheffield over 40s group http://www.s40wg.org/ There is an agewell over 50s walking group http://www.sheffieldhelpyourself.org.uk/full_search_new.asp?group=16480 It would be a bit strange if we complained to the over 50 group that people in their 20s and 30s were being excluded or made assumptions about why they didn't want us there. I do hope you can see that there is something for everyone and i do very much hope you find a walking group that meets your needs and you can enjoy our great British countryside with the Ramblers. Good luck
  7. Thanks for all your hard work last year Czech Girl! ---------- Post added 15-11-2013 at 23:04 ---------- Keep on Rambling!
