Hi I have been a swimming teacher for many years.I work for both the education dept (which includes working with special needs children), and privately run organisations across Sheffield which have group classes and 1 to 1 classes. The most common frustrations I hear are the large class sizes and the lack of learning with fun. So I have addressed this by setting up my own swim school which is based on nurture and fun and lots of patience. My class sizes will never exceed 6 children. Hi I teach swimming for both the education dept and privately run lessons and you are certainly not alone in your frustration! However, deep water is not always necessary to stop a child constantly standing..Whenever I teach in shallow water I use games and fun challenges (age appropriate) to encourage swimming longer distances. I also run a swim school where the depth is a constant 1.6m specialising in ages 4+. All classes have a max of 6 children which I find aids progression faster.
