  1. I would like to contact any relatives of Johnny Moore, who was born around 1916 and lived in Attercliffe.
  2. Did anyone from New parson cross go to lound via the six double dekker buses in the late forties/early fifties .
  3. I know this is in reply to an old posting, but if the Dave Speight you mention is around 74, and started work at ESC, I would like to revive an old friendship.
  4. I was at Colley from 1950 to 1952, having previously been at Lound. I then went to Barnsley Tech. I remember Mr. Birch, headmaster, Mr. Shaw, deputy head (he was the first person I had ever met who was ambidextrous) He was in charge of the school trip, by train, to London to see the Festival of Britain in 1951. Mr. Ibbotson taught music, Mr. Ollerearnshaw, science, Mr. Thomoson, football, Mr. Mellor, maths. I can't remember all the others but I remember my form teacher, who was the girl's gym teacher and was always in just skin tight leggings and a skin tight top. I don't know why I would remember her. ---------- Post added 23-01-2014 at 15:53 ---------- Hi Joto, I went to Colley because Yew Lane wasn't open at that time, so I presume that you are younger than me. Gloria, who is two years younger than me, and Christine, my sister who is 8 years younger than me,both went to Yew Lane. I have remembered that the brother and sister who lived at the other side of the Atkins, were called Scott, their mother was Mary. I don't remember anyone beyond your house except Derek Crapper, and the fact that we had a policeman living a little further on. Sorry to shatter your recollections, but I never did go in the army; because I was still studying, I was deferred from doing National Service, which was abolished before I finished my studies. I never had a motorbike either. Bill
  5. I remember Gloops in the Star and being a member of the Gloops Club. I remember the twisted girders where C&A was built. I remember the footbridge from Exchange Street to the fish market(I think)
  6. Hi Joto, thanks for the welcome. Yes my sister is Gloria: she is now 73 and in good health. Sorry but I am having trouble with "the corner house with the garage". Some of the names I remember from the other side of our road are: South, Pegg, Czechgaret(approximately), Lindley, then on the Drive were brother and sister Val and Bruce then Atkins who had a garage which I rented from them in the late fifties.(Let me know if I am getting warm) I can name most of the people from the other side of the road if you ever need to know.
  7. thanks for your info. Sorry I don't know any of the names. I lived at number 30
  8. I lived on Milnrow Road in 1947. Went to Lound till 1949 then to Colley for two years, then to Barnsley Technical School; left 1955. Worked at ESC till 1966 then went to Leeds where I still am. Recently widowed. Am now 75
