  1. I know I have the Rainbow/Wonderful World mashup in my playlist but I'm not sure if I have any others. He has a beautiful voice though....
  2. I think it is a new direction for Apple at least. Before they were more of a "boutique" computer manufacturer, almost like B&O of the computer world. With this latest bargain basement computer they are moving towards greater market share and lower margins....so it'll be interesting to see how it plays out. The street wasn't too impressed and punished AAPL, presumably because they would rather see more consumer goods than low margin computers. Anyways I'd get one but I four others kicking around right now :embarassed:
  3. I'd think somewhat along the same lines, that the .gov is not necessarily responsible for taking care of our charitable contributions. Leaving the money to the people to give as they choose I think is preferable to taxing the money and giving as the .gov chooses.
  4. Soooooo everyone is just as confused as I am or what?? I think there's four different ways to pronounce it posted so far from louellen, cluellen to fluellen...... Any Welsh people around?
  5. How do you pronounce this name properly? In North America I think they would say looellen but I think the ll = cl in Welsh? Or am I mistaken in thinking it's a Welsh name? ps. I'm not from the UK originally so cut me some slack
  6. There's also "Snap" at Trippet Lane if you fancy a board game and some great chilled out tunes. I think there's a post about it in the events section.
  7. The chinese is called Hui Wei by Simply Chinese. I do believe the other one is called MashHouse and it was supposed to open yesterday.
  8. Check out this thread: http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21071 As I mentioned there and I will mention again, I think Regent Terrace would be a fantastic choice. Just make sure you phone ahead as they will shut down early in the afternoon if they aren't busy.
  9. Well if you know that's what it is you'll know that's where you're sitting but otherwise it just looks like you go down some steps into the main seating area. The bar is at the top where you walk in and then there is a drop down to the restaurant. It is definitely sunken with steps down though...about 4 feet at least I'd guess. It's quite cool in the flats above as they have kept the original iron work rafters. Apparently from which they would drop a suspended dance floor over the pool!
  10. I have been yeah. It is very nicely fitted out, the booths are quite plush and the lighting atmosphere in the seating area is dynamic - slowly changing colours and intensity - overall very nice mood The prices are around £8 for a main dish and rice is on top at about £1.60. To be brutally honest I wasn't impressed with one of the mains we ordered and told our waiter so. The staff were extremely nice and in this case they took that one main off the bill (I hadn't eaten it either) with effusive apologies. The dim sum was made fresh and was nice though
  11. Hui Wei by Simply Chinese opened last Wednesday, December 1.
  12. I just saw a place about halfway down London Rd between Wasabisabi and St. Marys Gate. It was a small contemporary art gallery on the west side of the road. I think it's just opened recently as I haven't noticed it before.
  13. I would say Regent Terrace would be the perfect place. Beautifully prepared and delicious food at ridiculously low prices (if you go for lunch - it's more pricey in the evening). It has a nice cozy quiet atmosphere. (See this thread)
  14. Will be dropping by at some point.... Hope it's a successful first night DB! or DD now I guess..can't get used to your name change
  15. Now I truly know that people in Sheffield will complain about anything. I'd suggest you stay inside your home from now on just in case any more nuisance events occur. The market was great, I would love to see it as a regular event.
  16. www.hotukdeals.com - A site I run jointly and have become addicted too. arstechnica.com - PC stuff
  17. Utopia in West One is open until 10pm on weekends (sat/sun). I do wish there were more open late! If you find any please let me know.
  18. I would have to say Regent Terrace is one of the nicest places we've been to around here. Excellent food and a nice cozy quiet atmosphere. 27-29 Regents Terrace 0114 278 6351
  19. Ahh but do they also have registered satanists in their Navy?
  20. Sainsbury's gives a £10 voucher if they're late! You could try pushing for that. I've shopped online a number of times, just because there are so many good vouchers for it around. And it sure beats walking home with them, I think my arms get a little longer every time.
  21. Ahh someone told me they were utter crap he can't be trusted, though... I've got tickets lined up for the next one; should be quite literally 'good for a laugh'.
  22. Midland Mainline currently have a Xmas special between now and Christmas for £16 return (with £1 discount code XMAS04). From here: http://www.hotukdeals.com/Article235.phtml
  23. Where did you try Quizno's? We had them in Canada, their subs are definitely nicer and I loved the way they grilled them, but they did cost a pretty penny compared to Subway.
  24. Reading through this thread I was surprised that no one has yet made mention of the issue of brand ethics. Does anyone out there find themselves buying (or not buying) based on the employment/manufacturing practices of certain clothing companies?
