  1. What about making a second account with a fake address (because you won't ship anything there) and then once you have that log-in and use enotes to let them know about the problems with your other account? I know....that's a really backwards way of doing things but it might work!
  2. Fortunately living in Sheffield you have the opportunity to go down in person and yell very loudly through the windows. Probably better to use enotes.
  3. There's been a thread on this too and to cut a long story short that story is not true. I'm too lazy to look that thread up also Where's the mods when you need them?
  4. There's been a thread on this before but I am way too lazy to try and search it out.
  5. If you want the real thing there's always Double Dutch - the pancake joint in Orchard Square. Me? I'm staying in with my jug of maple syrup Might whip up a batch of pancakes later on too.
  6. Carver st. across from Flares. It spans the whole block though.
  7. I don't know where the "aboot" thing comes from as everyone seems to suppose Canadians do it but I've never heard it. There might be some Ontario accents that come close to it I guess. And it's "eh" not "eyyy" Generally used as in, "Nice day out eh" or "Good game last night eh".
  8. I go to London quite often and I always book with Priceline when I need a hotel. It's a bit confusing the first time you use it but the savings are definitely worth it! And it is very good for last minute travel. Here's a detailed guide with screenshots and everything on how to use Priceline properly. Priceline UK guide. To give you an idea I usually stay in a 4 star hotel in Kensington for £35-£40 (price per double room not per person). This weekend I am staying at a Hilton 4 star for £50. Not bad hey!
  9. This would have been an extremely challenging job for any creative agency to take on. Generally the rebranding of an established historical brand initially incites negative responses. In taking a look at the end result, we also have to remember that whoever was hired to carry out this 'brand makeover' was one of many parties involved in the project. Believe it or not, the creatives don't get the final say. Imagine for a minute the whole (painstaking, to be sure) process that went into this. What were the initial concepts like? What changed when the senior committee of the University sat down together to provide their feedback... each person wants to make the most of their opportunity to have some impact on the final income. The public is left mystified at the final result - what did they pour all their money into that for? In the end the design you see is what was approved by the client. Without knowing the original goals of the effort it is hard to judge whether or not it was successful. It's also important to take a look at the genre, if you will - what's going on visually with other universities? Oxford Cambridge Princeton Harvard

  11. Ok stop dredging threads up from 2 years ago!! No wonder I felt like I was in a time warp. For kicks I did the same search on Blundell's and there are now only 6 properties under £50k compared to 35 when this thread was posted.
  12. Don't worry I'm not so thick or skint that I wouldn't buy new nuts too! The "nuts" on both ends of the threaded rods are custom designed for the piece they come from so it is literally impossible to replace them off the shelf. Yup Wallbuilder you did mention it before, I just thought that Hobbies would have what I want. Greybeard - Thanks for that info! This piece was designed within the last five years so I don't think it would be an "old model" thread. Hopefully ISF will have some more options to try....
  13. I'll run by tomorrow (if they're open) and hopefully they will be able to hook me up or at the least tell me what I need. Thanks
  14. OK so I made it down to Hobbies today. Unfortunately the lady there was a little less than helpful which was surprising for a hobby shop (admittedly a threaded rod is not a big sale). Anyways we tried M2 first and it was too small, so they had some M2.5 short bolts which we tried threading into the nuts I had. The M2.5 seemed to fit but the threads felt like they were jamming and cross-threading, it was hard to tell but due to their fineness we didn't force it much. Finally she had some DBA? 6 which was too small again. So that's where I'm left. She didn't offer any more options but really there is no unique threads...it has to be fit something! Does anyone have some suggestions on what/where I can try next??
  15. Wow thanks for the advice and links! I measured it and it seems to be 2mm diameter (definitely not 3mm) so I guess it would be M2 then. Are there different thread types too? Do you have a RC shop you could recommend that might carry this? Thanks!
  16. Hey I was just going to post the same thing I need a small piece of threaded rod about 2" long but really really thin, like smaller than the diameter on cabinet knobs. I've been to B&Q and the usual suspects but they had nothing. The question is how do I know what size of rod I need so I can order over the net? M6 doesn't mean anything to me....
  17. I'm running the half-marathon as practice for the full one that I'll be running later on. All the suggestions were good, and I would also say that it's pretty important to make sure you have a well balanced diet (you'll need those carbs) and a good pair of running shoes. And drink that water! Lots of it. If you do some searching on the net you'll find plenty of good advice and training schedules if you need some guidance with getting prepared.
  18. I've seen them many times. Where we lived in Canada they were often just a slowly shifting glow in the sky. Occasionally they were really dramatic though, with vibrant colours and they would actually 'dance' in the sky. There's nothing more beautiful than being out in the woods on a very still dark night when they are playing across the sky.
  19. So really in the end what's the point? For people who want to drive there it will be a little closer than MAN but by public transport I would rather fly out of MAN as I can hop on the train in Sheffield and walk off right into the airport (using lifts, escalators and moving sidewalks for luggage even) in 1.15 max. To get to RHDS I have to take a train to Doncaster, unload my luggage, drag it to the bus stop, wait for a bus, have it loaded on again, sit in traffic for another 15-20 minutes and then wait for my bags to be unloaded and drag them in. I strongly doubt total travel time will be less than the much more relaxed and simple travel to MAN.
  20. Did you boot up off the disc? It shouldn't ask for a password if you are booting up off of it. Start your computer, put the disc in (don't click on it or open it), shut down your computer, push the power button to restart and immediately press down the "c" key on your keyboard. You should hear the disc spinning momentarily and then it will boot up off that disc and give you an installation menu. Go to the menu on the top bar and find the password reset option. Let me know what happens exactly...
  21. University of Sheffield Student Union building has a fax machine for use at the copy shop. You can send faxes for £ but I'm not sure if you can receive.
  22. Hi loulashes. I'm betting you are running OS 10.x and it is asking for the root password when you go to install something right? This is the easiest way to fix that. Find your OS 10 install disc, pop it in your computer, shut it down and then restart holding down the C key on your keyboard. Once you have booted off the disc go to the Install menu and select the "Password Reset" option. Put in your new password. After you are done with that restart again and when it asks for your password enter that new one. If you have any more problems post here
  23. Ah, it's so gritty. Love it. On a more romantic note, how about "I Hope that I don't Fall in Love with You" by mr Tom Waits? If you enjoy a tad of melancholy with your romance
  24. Aw come on! You're all missing the obvious: Sheffield Sex City - Pulp
