  1. Yup great restaurant and it really isn't pricey as antisocial notes.
  2. http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/ Use that "pedometer" to measure the distance, it will be much more accurate than a car and you can plot the exact route he would have ran.
  3. Hmmm so much for my memory, can't think of any gold sequined shrugs Ahh well, I was wearing a more or less pill box with short veil, black high necked/collared shirt, black skirt and fishnets. My partner had a grey fedora and dark grey suit (smoking a cigar). It was a great night out!
  4. What were you dressed as sophic1979? I was there also so trying to think who you would be
  5. Sure I was just being silly. I don't think I'm cut out to be an urban socialite nor socialist nor urbane although possibly inane
  6. Yes but we're not going to tell you errr does that make it "us" and "them" then?
  7. It's a bit of a difficult question if you give a term as a requirement but don't define it. Maybe it would be more useful to have a thread where you hash that out first and then try to find where "they" eat/drink. Otherwise you end up with some quite wild interpretations and answers that are not accurate...in a sense you get people making up what an "urban socialite" is according to what they think it should be. I have a slight doubt that those who fit (what I"m guessing is ) your description wouldn't label themselves as such. In fact I suspect that those who would name themselves would be those who are aspiring rather than those who are...and in that case Crystal would be bang on
  8. For an excellent used book shop check out Rare and Racy on Devonshire St. Probably not the best bet for a cheap textbook but absolutely fascinating for everything else
  9. Does anyone know what the schedule is for this week at the Runaway Girl? The website hasn't been updated for 2006 yet.... Wondering if Peek-A-Boo is on again this month? Thanks
  10. When I went for my run the signs were already in place, and I believe it is now called 'Embassy'. (edit - whoops, make that exchange). American bar and grill. Plastered with stars and stripes it is.
  11. I will take your bet and raise you double are we talking countries or time spent abroad... It's now mandatory for everyone to have thumb prints and photo taken on arrival in the US. Canadian residents were exempt but I think that is changing this year.
  12. Shame in a way that it's closed down now. However, to be honest I was in there about 3 weeks ago and the food was sub-standard plus the corner we were seated in smelled a bit...off. Certainly not at the standard it was at when it first opened.
  13. Had lunch there today. Love what they've done with the place. can't say much good about the lunch menu except that it's better than some other places Sheffield has to offer
  14. You should be able to get a contract with free phone and free 12 month contract. These usually have about 100-200 minutes and they count on you going over the amount to make money off you. As long as you keep an eye on your minutes and send in your bills on time (to claim the cashback amount) you will end up ahead. There's a thread on HotUKDeals forum where a member keeps a list of all the current free phone/free contract offers, it's worth checking out. There's also an internet site somewhere that keeps track of these too but I can't remember it offhand. http://www.hotukdeals.com/PNphpBB2-viewtopic-t7784.phtml
  15. Yup good link Old_Block So first scan the list and start from the top. Check if they have an affiliate program as then you can get money back from Quidco. Here's the ones I know of (all of them are for free trials): Screenselect - £12.50 back Lovefilm - £13.00 back Mailbox Movies - £2.50 Cinema Paradiso - £0.50 So that's 4 months of free DVD rental and £28.50 in your pocket
  16. Good question. I was actually thinking about this the other day but thought my lack of knowledge was due to never renting DVDs from a bricks and mortar store. I'd recommend something like Screenselect or Lovefilm where they mail the movies to you. It's a monthly subscription. However there are enough competing companies around that you can get about 6 months worth of free rentals by signing up to the free trials and then cancelling before the contract kicks in. Plus if you go through a cashback site like Quidco you can actually get paid to sign up to the trials. My long winded point is, why walk 1 hour when you can get them sent to your door and even get paid to watch them The services are more or less decent, some have slow turn around times or mediocre selection but over all it's great.
  17. Why is the different strokes for different folks...tiered pricing/exclusivity concept so hard to grasp? If you don't like a £3.70 G&T simply don't go to Halcyon. Some people think that £4 a drink is too much and therefore they stick to their local or where ever is offering 2 shooters for £1 or some such. Some people think that £4 a drink is good value because it's got quality ingredients, fair enough. Some people think that £10 a drink is good value because it keeps out the riff raff. The point is at the end of the day you don't see track suits in a bar where the cosmo is £15 and you don't see suits in a bar where they sell distilled through old socks vodka. Trying to justify value in a drink (from either end of the spectrum) is mad.
  18. Sounds like the perfect place, we'll be dropping by there one of these days. I must say I do find the logo/look less than inviting (though I am a bit more fussed than most about those things). Love the name though.
  19. Well she did say you can download it Barney_T 4th time seeing her now, saw her support Rufus at the Octagon, saw her at Night and Day in Manchester, at The Room and now at The Plug. Good sound at The Plug but my favorite so far has to be the Night and Day gig, great venue, very intimate. Think I'm done seeing her for awhile now though Not sure why she is on such a mad touring schedule that she would be coming through sheff 3 times in a year....
  20. I use the Devonshire Green Medical Centre. It's a little rough and nothing to write home about but it works.
  21. CD-WOW is good. They usually have voucher codes to save a pound or two on your order.
  22. What about the Motorola V3 RAZR? There's a cracking offer on right now from OneStopPhoneShop on Orange 1000 minutes OffPeak where the whole 12 month cost is only £60. And for the first 6 months you get 3000 free evening and weekend calls. On top of that if you sign up and buy it through Quidco they'll give you £20 cashback which means the 12 months will cost £40 which is £3.33 a month for contract and free V3 handset!! Here's the link to OSPS: http://www.onestopphoneshop.co.uk/index.php?&B[0][next][0]=&B[0][tariff]=P1000&B[0][handsetcode]=ORAV3B If you order online you get next day free delivery.
  23. That would be Pinders, but I've never been impressed with their prices or service. There's also Carson's on West Street - they carry plenty of art supplies in addition to their stationery supplies, and have always been very helpful.
