Some key points to address here. 1/ The purpose of having a named GP isn't necessarily for you to always see them, it is to ensure delivery of a more robust system for continuity of care. They will oversee and co-ordinate a patient's care plan, making it more personalised and relevant. This is not a new concept; in the mental health setting for example, patients regularly have care co-ordinators i.e. a named clinician, who interacts with all other medical professionals involved in a patient's care and has an overview of what has been done, what needs to be done etc. The large % of the elderly population is cared for in the community and have multiple, ongoing health problems that require input from more than one person so, having someone in the community who can co-ordinate this care is hugely beneficial; resources are finite and looking for ways to provide a more efficient service in primary care plays a huge role on the wider NHS system 2/ GPs have always had paperwork and the paperwork they do can not be done by a a non-clinician on 15k e.g. writing patient notes, recording diagnosis for correct payment for services. There is a huge financial system that underpins NHS operations and in particular GP practices. Most GPs are not-salaried but rather are paid directly by the commissioners for provision of care and with that comes a paper trial for recording activity to mention just one resource intensive activity.

First timer at Hillsborough tomorrow, hopefully!

Awesome. I'll try to make next week, shin splints permitting!

I've been meaning to sign up for a parkrun; been in Sheffield for 2 month now and still haven't got round to it. The Hillsborough one is probably the most convieniant one for me. Is there a timed deadline for sign up before the Sat run?
