  1. That is harsh. We have some old peoples bungalows near to where we live. The bin men take their bins to and from the bungalows and the older people appreciate this. If I am on days off from work, I take their bins out but I work shifts so I can't always do it. It's not really a pleasant job when its freezing cold and raining.
  2. I don't agree with sterilising the poor, however I think in certain circumstances there is an argument for sterilising adults who have had their children permanently taken into the care system due to abuse or the fact that they have a proven record of not being able to adequately care for them.
  3. I hardly watch tv these days. I love reading and tend to do that. At work the other day, my colleagues were all talking about the programme 'Big Brother', I had no idea that people still watched that rubbish. A few weeks ago I did watch something on tv (it was that uninspiring that I can't remember what it was) However in the end I got sick of the constant ad breaks. I also used to enjoy watching Horizon and Panorama.
  4. Really AmberLeaf? Never say never. I think there is someone out there for everyone. Admittedly I wasn't saying that when me and the ex seperated after he had been seeing a work colleague of ours and forgot to mention it to me.
  5. Stop sitting on the fence and tell us what you really think.
  6. I totally agree with you. Why would a police officers attention be drawn to you if you were acting as a decent citizen, having never come to their attention before.
  7. I feel your pain Rudds! My shifts aren't quite as long as 15 hours, but my commute makes it a long day after my 12 hour shifts. I chose to apply for my job knowing what it entailed so i'm not moaning. (maybe I am a bit )
  8. Have a brill Christmas everyone! I am unfortunately on nights tonight, but I will definitely make up for it on Boxing Day.
  9. Be honest though Derby. Did you say 'Arrrrr much' when you got the bill? Sorry couldn't resist, it's your catchphrase now!
  10. I think it is police support staff that work on those vans rather than police officers. I totally get where you are coming from though!
  11. Great to hear from you Plain Talker, i'm so sorry to hear about your dad. Take care xx
  12. Mel, Do you know how much intelligence and proof police need to force entry to a private dwelling? The police have to get this type of thing authorised at a high level. MI5 were also involved. This is serious stuff. Apologies Mel, this was in relation to your 'pitchfork ' comment. Not the one above.
  13. It happens to me all the time. I'm regularly sat watching tv / doing the housework and 'bang' the North East Counter Terrorism Police have knocked my door off it's hinges and are searching the house. These cops don't come to your house for no reason. That's just my opinion though.
  14. I don't understand. Why were the jury pathetic? If information was not presented to them in court then they would not know any different. They can only pass a verdict on the evidence that they have put to them. Do you mean that they were passed all details and failed to come to a majority verdict?
  15. But the jury return the verdict, not the police. Would the members of the jury not spot the discrepancies?
  16. Hi tinfoilhat, that doesn't sound good. Is it due to the aircraft that pass through? Genuine question as I don't know Manchester very well.
  17. I'm not a huge fan of sweet and sour dishes but that sounds amazing! I'm going to try it soon.
  18. I was just wondering if anybody else likes winter? We have a woodburner that becomes an ornament in the summer months. Personally I love having a glass of mulled wine and some roasted chestnuts infront of a woodburner. I love summer too, I just think that I like the difference of seasons here in England. ps it's not a christmas thing because I am working it all this year.
  19. I agree with you Angel, if people are travelling to Syria to join ISIS then they already have serious issues. As you say they are not like us. I actually find it hard to comprehend when a terrorist is shot by police and then medical staff have to work to save them. I wonder how doctors and nurses feel about it. It must be quite an odd situation to be in for medical staff.
  20. Dimple, I have no idea what the answer is. Making excuses for them i'm sure is not the answer. I saw photos of the funeral of the little girl (I think she was 7 years of age or so) who died at Manchester and I can honestly say that words fail me. I sobbed when I saw the photos. In my opinion if people want to travel to Syria and join IS, that is their bad choice. Tough, you can stay there.
  21. I have to agree wholeheartedly with this post. I can only add that walking into The Manchester Arena and detonating a bomb in a deliberate act that was aimed at killing children from the western world is not displaying the behaviour of someone that is 'young and stupid'. I've been young and stupid before but I have never wanted to deliberately hurt another human being.
  22. I'm really sorry, I didn't mean it to sound like Chesterfield is great, It really isn't. I've walked into Chesterfield town centre today and there were street drinkers everywhere. I was also approached by a man with a can of strongbow asking for a hug!!! I was only trying to say that as someone born and bred in Sheffield I was sad to hear how it is now. I genuinely was not trying to say Chesterfield is in any way better, it's certainly not.
  23. True. You don't see them when they are giving the awful news to someone that their relative has just been killed in a car accident. Or when they are dealing with someone who has just been beaten up by their partner. You might not see them when they are trying to talk a suicidal person down from a bridge. But people always notice if they are on a meal break and purchasing food.
