  1. What United will get is somebody who's not very good at winning matches in the League but very good in cup matches. That way the board can keep the expenses down and make a pile in the cup. I can see the headlines this time next year " Blades sack their manager ". Most of you are so niave it's painful to watch.
  2. The Board appointed Clough and the Manager before that so they are to blame, no doubt the next one will be shown the door this time next year and you will all turn up hoping this season will be better, It won't.
  3. Any man who isn't desperate would want the job knowing he will be sacked this time next year. ---------- Post added 25-05-2015 at 09:07 ---------- Every successful club have managers through thick and thin for many years. Do Arsenal or Manchester United constantly change their managers
  4. They have the players and a good manager as was proven in the cup runs but it's fairly obvious to me the B.O.D. don't want promotion, I may be wrong of course. Just stay away for the next season and see how they respond. My guess is the club will top League one with room to spare.
  5. I was never convinced the Club wanted to go up. The whole history of Sheffield United ever since I was a ballboy there during WW2 is of making money first and supporter satisfaction a very poor second. Nightingale once said to me, " If you get into football don't stay here" I never asked why because I never intended to play football for a living.
  6. In 1945 we voted for a Labour government and British Railways was borne giving us affordable travel in comfort. A good bus and tram service and of course we walked which kept us fit. Then came the car, we all wanted one not knowing what a disaster they would bring with inadequate roads and parking. This of course put paid to the public transport in most cases and cities became clogged, London is almost impossible to drive through if you're allowed. Don't you think it would be a good idea to ban cars from all the big cities and replace them with public transport. I know the strikes were a nuisance but the staff have to have a living wage.
  7. Who have you in mind who would do any better. Every time the CLUB fails the supporters call for the manager's head. The team didn't lose against Swindon they were robbed by an incompetent referee. That hand ball and double footed tackle would not have been ignored by me I can tell you, they were blatant fouls.
  8. The manager has very little control over the club as a whole, he simply manages the football players the board decide to provide him with. There isn't one manager out there who can win games on loan players because it's a team game therefore a manager needs settled players. Then there is the record at' lane of the club selling any lad they can make a bob or two on. So just put yourself in Clough's position. I don't know why he took the job in the first place not many even half decent managers would. So before you shout for his head just consider who you may get in his place.
  9. When are Sheffielders going to learn you're being had for fools. Two teams neither of them worth a light As we used to say in the Army:- N.A.A.F.I. ( no ambition and xxxxxxx xxxxxxxx )
  10. The Board would be foolish to spend money on players then be promoted and have to pay higher wages when they can get 19-20,000 through the turnstiles in league one. Sheffield United is a business and is being run as a business. The people who attend the matches probably know this but it's something to look forward to during the working week. Sheffield United will not be promoted and if N.C. gets anywhere near he'll be sacked, the game is to wet the supporters appetite and keep those turnstiles turning.
  11. The reason is N.C. has experience with the players, poor as some of them are, so how would another manager do any better or even as good. Just look at Arsenal and other big clubs they stick with their manager through thick and thin and support him with money. Sheffield United have something like 19 - 20 thousand going through the turnstiles every home game and they can't keep pace with the likes of Yeovil and other small town clubs. Sacking the manager is the Board of Directors get out of jail free card.
  12. A good team needs consistancy and you can't get that from players on loan. If the supporters knew anything worth while about the game then they would be a manager. My advice to you all is pay your money and hope for the best. League one is like quicksand, it's very difficult to get out of. The board of directors are the ones you should criticise, they determine policy the manager just tries to do his best under their rules. ---------- Post added 30-03-2015 at 10:45 ---------- I would just like to add another point if I may. Where were the calls for N.C.'s head after the Scunthorpe game.
  13. Sheffield United are in League one because the Board can't or will not spend the money required on players. What does the club do with the gate money? If history is anything to go by Clough will be sacked and blamed for the failure to get promoted just like all the previous managers. No manager can make a silk purse out of a pigs ear. Of course supporters attend the matches in the hope that things will get better but they will not. You're being had for fools.
  14. Both Thursday and Sunday nights were almost daylight. It was a period of high pressure and snow fell on friday morning. I was 12 years old and spent the thursday night under the railway bridge in Heeley with my elder brother. The only people who like war are those who have never witnessed it and the ones who profit from it.
  15. I did hear on the grape vine that a Dubai firm had invested in a few bin lorries to clean up London Road. The latest price for a share on the London stock market was a thousand quid and rising.
