  1. I find the on air interviews he does bizarre to listen to. It's as if they had a someone else ask the questions before hand and just edit in Pressman asking the questions from a script with, only a fraction of a second between the end of his barrage of questions and the start of the reply. Comes across very staged.
  2. Can be used in all South and West Yorkshire except the section of the X10 route as it leaves South Yorkshire to Leeds. Strange to apply this restriction, while the X17 has none. Meanwhile, the rest of South Yorkshire continues to subsidise the supertram system for Sheffield. Where can you go? You can travel on all Stagecoach bus services in South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and North Derbyshire as far as the Chesterfield megarider Plus zone. The Eveningrider is valid on X10 between Barnsley and Haigh.
  3. No, pronounced coyl. Coyt for coat. Shoo-it for shoot. Spoo-in for spoon. Too-il for tool. Stoo-il for stool Poo-il for pool Beernz (or beynz) for beans, etc
  4. Can any moderator who reads this please explain to me why my thread and post were recently removed for merely asking what had happened to another thread in this subject?
  5. Flew over Derwent dam with the Lancaster on Saturday. Looks like they were going from coningsby to Blackpool airshow. Came back an hour or two later. Looks like they should have been staying to the West over night so must have been a change of plan.
  6. Used to like Free Spirit when it was on the corner near Debenhams, before it then moved to somewhere near where the Disney store now is.
  7. What was the little packed clothes shop called on the lanes near the entrance from the main mall around 25 years ago that used to stock dryzabone coats, fruits of the loom t shirts, an other vaguely Americana clothing/ urban woodman gear?
  8. Had a 9:30 appointment earlier this week at NGH. Spent half an hour trying to find an on site parking space and ended up parking on Longley Hall Road and walking around past the retirement home and being 15 minutes late. I was surprised how many permit only areas there were, which I couldn't remember from last time I went a few years back. There were quite a lot of free permit spaces up near the blood transfusion end. It really needs something doing to address the parking problem. It's not a realistic option for a lot of people to use public transport. Even an access point in to the grounds through the fence near the blood transfusion would have helped me at the time.
  9. Sheffield's campaign to move the HS2 station to the city centre from a location that better served the wider South Yorkshire region at Meadowhall has shown that is has minimal consideration for other members of the Sheffield city region. You can't blame the leaders of Doncaster and Barnsley for their reluctance to get involved. The other councils are probably still paying off the student games facilities and continuing to subsidise the tram system.
  10. I may be being unrealistic but in my layman opinion I think a team of ground workers could cut the pavement around a tree base and make good with whatever material is used in half a day. Material cost can't be relatively that much. During TFs' interview on the radio it was interesting to here that a lot of the Amey contract with Sheffield Council is redacted due to commercial sensitivity, while apparently that between Birmingham Council and Amey isn't.
  11. Would be interested to see a breakdown of the £10,000 cost per tree for engineering works. It sounds like one of the anecdotal figures that get written in PFI contracts such as £150 to change a light bulb.
  12. This article and comments make interesting reading: rotherhampolitics.wordpress.com/2016/02/26/rotherham-councillor-accused-of-rape/
  13. I seem to remember seeing a feature in The Star a few years ago about a Sheffield based recruitment agency that specialised in recruitment of professional females for (I think) the financial/legal areas. Can anyone help with suggestions for the agency?
  14. Are there three CPZs in central Sheffield that correspond to Central Zones 1,2 & 3 shown in w w w.sheffield.gov.uk/roads/travel/driving/parking/city-centre/parking-zones or do the zones on that page have no relation to the CPZ(s). There doesn't seem to be any information on the Council web site saying what the operational hours of the different zones are.
