Hi, I' one of the organisers for the entertainment at this years Sheffield Food Festival. We are looking for singers/duos to perform in both the Peace Gardens and on the Moor (PA equipment provided) we also have a few band slots left on the Peace Gardens Stage but not many so they will fill up quickly. Have any local bands entered this? I am currently supporting welsh female fronted rock band Kane'd http://download.redbullstudios.com/band/kaned/ as they have previously performed at a charity gig in Sheffield that i arranged, but if any local bands have entered I would love to support them too

Hi, Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this. I lost a set of keys in the Longley area last Thursday and wondered if anyone had come across them? There's a specific set of keyrings on them of which should make them easily identifiable including a tesco clubcard keyring. Thanks, Natz

Personally I would never buy likes from these sort of emails/organisations, as unless they are somehow targeted 'likes' you could be getting people from the other side of the world or fake profiles following the page. You may be able to get 70+ extra followers this way but if none of them are interested in your product/are real profiles you've just wasted money buying false statistics. At least if you build the likes yourself, you know that people who have liked the page are genuinely interested in what you are posting about. I also strongly disagree with most of the 'like for likes' schemes currently going on at the moment, again most people who like a page as a result of this scheme seem to be there just there because they want to build their own likes or a friend has asked them to join to help to build theirs. I would love to hear what other people think of these type of schemes though. Facebook actually have a facility of which you can use to generate targeted ads, maybe this would be of more use than buying 70+ likes of which you don't know where they are coming from? They offer pay per click or pay per insight, I've never used them myself so wouldn't be able to tell you how effective they are. Have you invited friends who may be interested in the product or service to join? If some of your friends join, a couple of their mates might see it in their newsfeed and join too.

I dont think he does contracts i think you can either book single sessions (not sure on pricing) or a bootcamp session which is 4 weeks, 3x sessions a week for £99 I believe. He's highly qualified and a great bloke.

Just seen something over S5 - a trail of lights and moving slowly like nothing i've seen before. It seemed to low for meteorites - my thought was some sort of low flying plane?

Just to add also - I trained in a mixture of Karate, Jujitsu and aikido as a child up until around the age of 16 and all of those type of sports or any defence sport are great confidence builders even if people attending never end up in a situation where they need to defend themselves. I think it's unfair to say that any type of self defence sports are more or less effective than the others because not only do they teach children how to stand up for themselves, they also give them the discipline and knowledge to know when to just walk away. The way I was taught was to only retaliate if absolute necessarily with just enough force to escape confrontational situations.I'd like to think that most other kids self defense classes would teach the same sort of discipline.

My nephew who attends seems to enjoy it, as do the other children I know who attend. Shane the guy who runs it is great with kids and really good at helping to build their confidence.

For anyone interested in taking their kids to a gig. Social enterprise Young Music (which aims to support young bands and artists) is running an all ages family gig on the 7th October at Sheffield Wednesday FC in their 1867 suite. Tickets are £5 for adults and £3 for children (under 16). This will feature some of the best upcoming pop acts including Sheffield band Sour Cherry. The event will start at 1pm. For those more into rock we're also running an all ages rock gig featuring local rock and indie bands on the 5th October again at Sheffield Wednesday FC in their 1867 suite. This however will be an evening gig starting from 6.30pm so may be less suited to those with younger children (although they are still welcome to come along if they don't mind stopping up late). Again tickets are £5 for adults and £3 for children (under 16). More information including full lineups will be added to http://www.youngmusic.co.uk shortly. Sorry for the blatant advertising, i just didn't want those after taking kids to gigs to miss out that's all.

I'd love to be able to set up something for younger people, problem is most venues only want people over a certain age attending. If anyone knows of any venues that would be interested in putting some family friendly gigs on i'd be very interested to hear from them . I am currently working alongside social enterprise Young Music to try and set up some all ages gigs so keep an eye on http://www.youngmusic.co.uk, hopefully we'll have some set up soon.

This is untrue. Yes there may be some shows in different languages but a lot of them aren't. This way everyone in the community is given a chance to get involved no matter what background or ethnicity. Almost every day there's also a communities live show where local people can go in and talk about their events or organisation (a local news show if you like). If you take a look at the schedule -most days there's only 1-2 shows per day that are spoken in another language, some are even produced in multiple languages. http://www.sheffieldlive.org/schedule/friday/
