Just now, Anna B said:Any indication of the price of the individual flats yet?
As they haven't even drawn up the plans, I doubt it.

If you want to live in a soul-less concrete jungle, fair enough, but some of us wonder what these architects are doing. Do none of them have any greater skill? What are they paid vast sums for - it's not as though any of them can seemingly design much more than concrete rabbit-hutches, from what I see.

Just as an aside, this proves that Coppard & Co will make a complete foul-up if they take over the PSV service - they haven''t got a clue what they are doing.

Though the driver I spoke to today said they had now been told not to discuss the incident with passengers, which is understandable. Loose lips sink ships.
I don't think it is a case of 'loose lips sink ships', more that someone has really not thought this trough, As I said, the buses are NOT supposed to be stored there, and some knuckles are going to get rapped - hard.

Â
I was told by a bus driver that the thieves boarded both busses, but only one was stolen. Apparently on previous nights the bus station security had seen youths boarding the busses and messing around in them.
Â
Â
Â
So, if security were aware of the issue, why were they not more vigilant? And why were they still stored there - As far as I can determine, the Interchange is not listed as as an operation centre.

but I do love how Ollie is trying to claim it as a success when he didnât want the app in the first placeâŚ.. ooops did I say that
That bit is, I suspect an 'Ollie' figure plucked out of mid-air for effect, because I bet he, or his 'advisors' don't have a clue either.

The figures will be made public in accounts, surely? So weâll be able to mark his work when thatâs published.
Sorry, but some of his (and his predecessors) 'press releases' have been a little, shall we say, 'ambiguous' , so I view them with caution. đ

I have the feeling we'll never know the truth - there will be too many red faces if it comes out.

However one wasn't found 60 miles away, both were parked up in the interchange, first thing the company knew about it was when the drivers got to the buses for start of service.
Which strongly suggests Interchange security is lacking.

Haven't been to the bus station tonight so I can't say,Â
There have been instances where buses have been left in bus stations/on the road till late at night but these are ones that usually require being towed back to the depot because they won't move under their own power.Â
I understand what you are saying in your last paragraph, and that is not the same as storing them there - if they need towing, they need towing.

Its been tried several times over the years and failed.

While Sheffield may be a moderate sized city , the city centre is actually a very tiny circula route , there is no demand or need for these buses .... I've seen it myself when in town, when one passed me, totally empty ....
the fact that they are now being stolen only highlights another dark and miserable aspect of this dark ages city, no respect for property , as shown by the wanton graffiti everywhere , far worse than other similar cities đ Â
Agree with most of your comment, too, although I would take issue slightly with your last comment.

1 minute ago, hackey lad said:Twonks who can start a bus a drive them a long distance . When was the last time a bus was pinched in Sheffield ?
The fact they can start and drive a bus doesn't make them any less of a twonk (thief, if you prefer). It is a long time since I heard of one in Sheffield, but I think it has happened before.
Â
The problem in this case is that they were in insecure storage, in a quiet part of city. How often do you see empty buses just sat there, in the open, in the middle of the night? You don't - they are in secured compounds.

3 minutes ago, hauxwell said:I agree.  I was also going to say in my last post never heard of any of the electric buses being pinched up in Newcastle and Gateshead. Â
There's always some twonks who will try anything 'for a laugh' - and having the vehicles in insecure storage just makes it easier for said sad cases.

1 minute ago, Resident said:Just to update on the stolen bus front.Â
It wasn't one bus that was stolen, 2 were stolen. The 2nd was found 60miles away, undamaged. Both were seen together on the Parkway & Crystal Peaks prior to the one being crashed in Killamarsh.ÂInteresting. I assume the three undamaged ones are now on secure storage - and the other on on its way for repair?

I honestly don't know - I'm only going on what I read on here, and I understand the case was brought by the 'student' - so they should be paying.

Who instigated the case? I doubt it was a tax payer.

12 minutes ago, YorkieontheTyne said:Yes. I assume itâs still the Yorkshire Area Traffic Comissioners. All applications for operators licences, operating centres, route changes, disciplinary proceedings, and much much more can be found there. Normally published weekly. Iâd be interested to know if you find owt. You may have to go back some time. Good hunting.
They appear to have 'improved' the site - at one time I had a bookmark which took me directly there, but it just points to the headline page now - where IÂ can't find the new applications/registrations.
-
Just now, YorkieontheTyne said:Any alteration to an operators licence, including registration of a new operating centre will have been published in the Traffic Comissioners Notices and Proceedings, a well known cure for insomnia!
I had thought of that too. Is it possible to find that online?
-
1 minute ago, YorkieontheTyne said:I would say so, but after charging they should be moved to the registered operating centre for parking, cleaning and maintenance etc.
Thanks - but they clearly aren't being! I was under the impression that SPCT's operating centre for their Sheffield operations were at Brightside, NOT the Interchange?
-
2 minutes ago, YorkieontheTyne said:Another point of order RollingJ. If the buses are being charged, parked and operated from Pond Street has it been registered with DVSA as an operating centre? It needs to be if this is an ongoing arrangement.
Good point, @YorkieontheTyne - although charging them there should be allowed?
-
12 minutes ago, SheffieldForum said:Agreed. TSY were quite sure they were to be stored at Brightside. đ¤ˇââď¸
Well, as the site owners at Pond Street, they should have advised SPCT to comply with that understanding, and then this wouldn't have happened to THEIR vehicles - would it?

1 minute ago, SheffieldForum said:South Pennine Buses director Kevin Carr said in a statement: âShortly before 2am two of our Sheffield Connect buses were illegally entered into by subjects.
âShortly later, subjects stole at least one of the vehicles from its site. Subsequently during the period of the night significant damage was caused to our vehicle and that of third parties and third party property. We are working with our partners at SYMCA (South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority) and Sheffield City Council , whilst South Yorkshire Police have begun a full investigation to identify the subjects and bring them to account.
Â
âWe respectfully ask for your patience whilst these enquiries are ongoing and rest assured our team are working incredibly hard to minimise any disruption.
ÂâWe thank you for your understanding and co-operation during what is a very upsetting time for our team.â
Slight 'misinformation' in that statement - the vehicles actually belong to SYCMA - SPCT run them under contract to the MCA.
Â
As said previously, why are they stored overnight in the open, in a very quiet area -this won't please the insurance company.

OK - as it seems I'm being followed around on here, I shall stick to commenting on things where I have solid data - clearly 'alternative' views are not welcome by some.
