  1. Stop paying the ******** . . . Easy . . .
  2. If this is any use to any one . . . At about 1000 ths morning a tortoiseshell cat was missed by #35 bus bv struck by a car near junction of Fox Hill Road and Aysgarth Road. Bus driver raid heard the round but thought puss jumped up a nearby stone wall. The at was NOT run over . . . Hope this helps someone . . .
  3. Wow! That prompted some comment . . . My old man was editor and publisher of the daily business paper of the richest (ie cash cow) city in the country in the late 40s and early 50s. My now S postcode city. At beyond retirement age I have an idea of what I'm on about. As long as our democratically positioned reps are trying their best, then so be it. Like it PROVED tho, with itemisf council tax/poll tax bills please. Thatcher connection is interesting, for a mere shopkeeper's daughter and co-inventor of annther great con - " whipped " ice cream. More(on) her later. ---------- Post added 19-09-2018 at 04:42 ---------- Once upon a time there was a shopkeeper's daughter charged with the ultimate responsibility of running a rophistiated Western economy. One day, an Near Eastern dictator wandered in to Maggie's corner shop and requested help with his " defence " re-supply after the 1984-1989 Iran/Iraq conflict. " Of course we can help Mr Hussein " came the reply, conveniently forgetting that his name backwards, was Maddas. " Cheers Margeret " came the reply. " Can you put it on the slate ? ". Needless to say, the guy didn't pay and said S W Economy was left with a bankrupting hole to fill. Poll tax did not work, the country degenerated in to rioting and MT was sacked. But, hey, so long as the " elect your own dictator " " democrats " are SEEN to be trying their best, show me a better system.
  4. A current internet article by the New Statesman discusses the city being divided into Sd A and Sd B. It refers to Sheffield city council (purposely lower case) as being INCOMPETENT and COMPLACENT. I couldn't agrd more. Shame on you for bringing my paid for heritage in to disrepute both NATIONALLY and INTERNATIONALLY.
  5. At about 2115 today Sunday 16 September 2018 a bright red stationery light was seen to the North East of Sheffield below the cloud base. Object then moved East then North East at what appeared to be supersonic speed but noislessly. Most intriguing
  6. Greno Woods must beware once again . . .This time and recently (including today) there is someone wandering about with (probably a high powered and silenced) air rifle . . . Straight thro a perhing pigeon front to back ... Be on your guard for any weird ( and not so weird ) behaviour as it could be you or yours next . . .
  7. So Sheffield's faceless wonders seem bent on trousering part of the profits of a major wildlife habitet still. What I cannot get is why these unidentified bods receive free money extorted under threat of citizens' arrest and imprisonment. Such a contentious and unpublicised " corporate vandalism " to quote our Lord Scriven, should be aired publicly and put to a vote. We are paying for this debacle. So let us have it out with those responsile. Who said democracy was how to elect your own dictator ? . . .
  8. I notice that the Greno Woods poisoner is at it again. . . A fox this time. . . Sheffield council have been active in this department regularly in the past. . . The ones who clear dead animals know EXACTLY where to.find even the hidden ones. . . GW is public access but privately owned. . . Cannot blame SC exclusively but this kind of thing seems right up their tree! . . . Suggest thet the public be aware. . .
  9. Called in to that revamped superrmart Tuesday opp Peace Gardens. . . Whilst I've heard of pop up stalls and shops, not heard of pop up superrmarket. . . Been using Budgens as convenient for my messed about #85 bus home. . . All.closed up and MT with sign saying nearest branch Nottingham. . . Only been operating post-Co-op for few weeks. . . Thought they were being generous in stamping my loyalty card. . .. Lass in bank said they left in a hurry. . . Lot of traders do.that in Sheffield. . . What do they call that villege which only appears once every hundred years. . . Brigadoon, Sheffield. . . That's it. . .
  10. First Group single decker bus slewed across both lsnes of Abbeydale Road near Archer Lane. " Council bin lorry with OSF of cab crunched in. ALL emergency services in attendance with rmad blocked off. Outbound Firrt buses diverted via Archer Lane, council organised bottleneck known as Woodseats then FULL LENGTH of Abbey Lane thus conveniently missing out those who live in Millhouses. First in their wisdm then ran the INBOUND return services via the same route. Dazed and confused Milhouses user waiting in vain at those electrnic dgplay bus stops gving ov hgnfo pursuantnt to the mile down the road turn off services whch were never going to reach them.Only bus to serve Milhouses was Derbyshire's #218 which had real cushions and real time stop info a la Supertram. Takimg of Stagecoach, they are the nes with real seat cushions and real inspector dotted abov Sheffield to ensure smooth and logial running. Also supplementary BUS CONDUCTOR for busy times and locatins. First try to do it by radio/remote control. The word literaly n the street is that any First inspector would be lynchf hence those that do exist are al coopf up inacessibly down Pond Street somewhere. In the words of Derbyshire's #218 driver . . . " First just are nt botherf " . . . QED . . .
  11. The word on the street is that our number 85 First Group bus is to be altered radically from 31 October 2015 ? . . . For example: Week DAY service will be reduced from 20 minutes to 30 minutes and that ONE of those will not touch Grenoside but will follow the Stagecoach route along Penistone Road . . . If First's current abysmal record of servicing Grenoside is maintained the my wait fir an 85 will increase from 40 minutes when one goes missing regularly to an hour's wait ? ? ? ! ! ! . . . Can't find anything published ANYWHERE at mo . . . Does anyone know what's happening or likely to hsppen . . .
  12. Anyone know where that lightning bolt went 20" ago . . . It all went dark up here at Grenoside followed by a massive thunderclap . . .
  13. Noticed half mile long funeral.cortege on Halifax Road headed by bike trike hearse . . . Some helmets off as a mark of due respect . . .
  14. Hi mate . . . Spied twin rotor Chinnook looking as if just taken off from Rutland Hill heliport at 1700hrs . . . Headed south east . . . My thoughts are that only military able to msintain these over complicated beasts . . . Probably a practice run of sorts . . . Either that or we've got the SAS lurking up there! . . . Good job we've got the Forum as Shefgield Star can only say so much . . . ---------- Post added 20-02-2015 at 02:42 ---------- Make that 1700 Tuesday . . . Is there an " Irishboy / Elmer " out there ? . . .
  15. Can I opt out of paying the shelterd housing charge . . . It is some 15% extra on top of my rent and difficult to find now they've changed the rules . . .
