  1. No. They get a fair salary and maybe a small bonus at Christmas and free specs for themsleves. Small companies cannot afford to pay staff bonus and they cant afford to rip off their customers, or they wont retrun.
  2. What you forget is that in optical chains, such as specsavers, staff get paid peanuts and get bonus for selling coatings, higher value lenses etc. The staff get into trouble if they do not sell enough high end high value stock. Its all about the numbers!
  3. J Harvey and Company - 160 London Road, S2 No. 0114 2550707 Family run old school opticians - really friendly, good service. Been going there since I was a kid.
  4. Contact J harvey and Co, London Road 0114 2550707 - they will order you a months supply of really good ones that come with cases and solutions. They will give you a frew free ones too if you want to trial them and their service. Ask for Yvonne Cotton or Richard Cotton - they own it.
  5. Its a total con - they just want to get you into a contract. I understand that people want to spend less on things these days but if you pay 50p for a pair of lenses then you probably get a 10p pair of lenses and these 10p lenses are going in YOUR EYES. YOUR EYES are one of the most IMPORTANT organs on your body. I would see a local not supermarket or national optician and order 6 months supply which will cost a bit more but it will be QUALITY and then re-order when you have a month or so left. EAsy
  6. I fancy going to Thailand in November - where can I get cheap flights on the net?
  7. As I understand it is just going to be like the two upper storeys converted into HIMO's. People can do that anyway with a normal dwelling without pp - convert a house to a small HMO. I do not believe that the owner of the land really wants people living above his business that dont care about the building or the area. Its in his interests to have good tenants.
  8. I have joined the one on Saville Street - its very quite on the weekends and all the equipment is new. park in tesco for free.
  9. You need to set out in a letter addressed to a specific manager of a specific care home exactly what you are doing, what you want from then and what you have to offer. A phone call doesn't really show much effort on your part. You could even hand deliver the letter and ask to speak to the manager of the care home(s) you approach. There is a lot of competition for work around these days and therefore to stand out you have to make yourself stand out. If you draft a letter and email it over to me I can read it for you and make some suggestions as to how to improve it. Research the care homes you approach beforehand and tailor each letter to the home. Thats my advice! If you want my help with your letter PM me.
  10. I would go somewhere on London Road. Independently owned businesses - delicious food - good service and value
  11. I cant reply to you PM. No - two men took me to my parents house. No paramedics as my parents took me to hospital. I recall a black ford focus... 04 plate I think...and the driver said his friend lived in Birley......
  12. J Harvey and Co 160 London Rd S2 2LT 0114 2550707 They will help you Family run friendly opticians business
  13. Hello..I am trying to find the contact details of the two men who helped me on Saturday 1st June 2013. I am the lady who had the cycling accident on the tram tracks and hurt my head and arm. The men drove a black Ford Focus and took me and my bike to my parents. I didn't get their names because I was in such a mess but I want to say thank you.
