  1. I don't believe that our universe is infinite. However I do believe that there are an infinite number of universes, each weirder than the last. And each teeming with varieties of life that are simply too miraculous for us mere humans to envisage. However should any of these wonderful, fascinating creatures ever make it to Earth and try to eat me or my dog I shall shoot them.
  2. Hi there! Why not hire a magician who can entertain the kids (and the adults) with a magic show, then make balloon animals for the kids and entertain the adults with some card tricks and mind-reading? I'll drop you a pm, or you could contact me. All details at bottom of my post. I'm a full Equity member which means you get a professional service that's fully insured. I'm a full time magician so you know you're hiring someone who's good at what he does.
  3. Hi there. The "Haunted House" meet is purely for entertainment, and all effects, spirits etc. will be conjured by me using my skills as a magician. It'll be spooky, but in no way am I expecting any "real" spirits etc to put in an appearance - although it might be nice!! Full details are on the thread right here. I'm still very much in the planning part of this project and the venue is still yet to be finalised. I'll post a new thread once that's sorted. Hopefully the actual event will take place on a Saturday night in late August.
  4. Yes, but what if they bring their heat ray with them. What then??? Servitude? Imprisonment? Or do we fight back??? Good Lord, it'll be like bows and arrows against the atom bomb.... Sorry. It's late.
  5. The civilisations that believed the earth was flat thought that their ideas had loads of common sense and facts to support them. They were just wrong, exactly as we are in a lot of our current beliefs. In 500 years people will laugh at how silly and simple folk were back in 2006.
  6. Ah yes, our old friend "science". The very same friend that once upon a time *knew* that the earth was flat, that the sun orbited the earth, that to travel faster than 20 mph would asphyxiate a human, etc. etc. I think that scientists should stick to trying to bring the dead back to life and leave space travel to the experts.
  7. I base my beliefs on absolutely nothing but a gut instinct. It would actually (imho) be extremely sad if we were the only planet in the whole universe that sustained life. Unless of course our neighbours really did have a heat ray, in which case I would be glad to hear that we are actually all alone. Anyway, if Hollywood has taught me anything it is that we are not alone, and that small green aliens are generally friendly whilst those that dress in black and wear cloaks are in broad terms less friendly.
  8. I like to believe that the universe's primary function is to produce & sustain life. I wouldn't be surprised to find that the universe is absolutely teeming with life, something like a lake on a summer's day. This is just my opinion of course, and one that I will gladly revise when the alien deathstar drops out of warp and they start aiming their ruddy heat ray at us. Absolute ********.
  9. I believe that God was an alien, and Jesus was half-alien half-human. I also believe that the "human race" originated on Mars, but we moved here when Mars went belly up. Oh, but we had to get rid of the pesky dinasours first. It's also very late and I'm feeling tired. I'm going for a lay down.
  10. Anyone with a passing interest in all things "psychic" may be interested in a "haunted house meet" I'm organising. Details can be found on this thread: http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=127449 Ta muchly!
  11. Thanks to all who have enquired about this cool new social phenomena! If you'd like details please just pm me, or drop an email to [email protected]
  12. Because of the style of magic that I specialise in I tend to use http://www.blackhart.co.uk and http://www.nothingupmysleeve.co.uk Both wonderful people selling quality items.
  13. Never been down to the shop near Ponds Forge to be honest. I get all my props on-line, and ideas from the classic tomes that you're no doubt familiar with.
  14. Then you're quite obviously not at the cutting edge of cultural developments! Seriously though, there have been one or two magazine articles on them in recent months, and according to them it's an idea that originated in the USA. But what do they know? In fact, I'll copyright the idea, and will edit my original post to read "the latest craze to arrive from Lodge Moor, Sheffield".
  15. Why not host a spoon & fork bending party in the comfort of your own home? They're the latest craze to arrive form the USA! They're like Tupperware parties except you bend forks and spoons "with the untapped power of your mind" rather than purchase plastic containers! Those of you who remember Uri Geller will know exactly the kind of thing. So what happens on the night of the party? First of all the magician (me) will demonstrate spoon and fork bending right before your very eyes. Volunteers will be called forth to assist, and they too will bend forks for your entertainment. Then all party goers will be issued with a fork or a spoon and the entire group will go through various proceedures used by "new age" practitioners in an attempt to bend the spoons and forks with the mind alone. This usually produces some *very* interesting results. The magician will then reveal the actual method used by magicians and illusionists (including allegedly Mr. Geller - though I have no proof) around the world to bend spoons and forks. The entire party will then have a chance to practice their new skills, and there will be plenty of time for discussions about magic and the untapped potential of the human mind. And yes, of course all forks and spoons are provided free of charge!!! All party goers will leave with the ability to bend spoons and forks wherever and whenever they want. A sure way to impress friends and family with your new found mental ability! The actual spoon bending section of your party will last for approx. 2 hours, but of course you can carry the party on into the wee small hours of the morning if you wish. And once you know how to bend cutlery at will, you'll be eager to practice and show-off to everyone you know! For full details on the spoon bending parties, please PM me or email [email protected] Keep on bending! Fancy visiting a real haunted house? 16. As a magician I often use ouija boards (and tarot cards) as props. See my "haunted house meet" thread for details of a cool spooky night I'm planning http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=127449. I often wonder why ouija boards get such bad press. I guess it's thanks to Hollywood and the various urban myth type stories that one hears. I use these irrational fears to good effect in my magic shows, and I think that that is exactly where real magic resides - in the wonderful human mind. Ouija boards are manufactured by the same people who make board games such as Monopoly. Tarot cards are made by the same people who make playing cards & top trump cards. They're not made by some mystical forces, rather by some guy named Stan and his huge great cardboard printing machine. It is the human mind that lends them magical properties. Think about it.
  17. I'll be performing table-hopping magic of a bizarre and gothic nature at the Batfink Midsummer Nightmare Ball on 22nd July at the Hubs. I'll be in the main bar between 9pm and midnight...mwu-hah-hah!
  18. Cheers Meroveus, batfink have already booked me.
  19. A big shout out to Batfink who have very kindly booked me for their forthcoming Midsummer Nightmare ball on the 22nd July. Looking forward to a great night! Any other venues interested? I combine table-hopping magic (card tricks, mind-reading etc) with genuine tarot & palm readings to create a unique and new style of close-up magic that I rather clumsily call "Gothic magic & psychic illussion". It's a great form of entertainment for *any* pub or restaurant, and is just spooky enough to keep even the rowdiest of customers quietly entertained!
  20. Good question and I'm glad you asked. Basically for my "gothic magic & psychic illussion" performances I use tarot cards rather than "normal" playing cards. I also utilise props and techniques such as ouiji boards, pendulums, palm reading etc. to create edgier, darker illussions. This is "table-top" magic, so is played out right in front of my audience. Each set of illussions is also bound together by a spooky tale, either of my own imagining or inspired by writers such as Poe, Stoker, or Conan Doyle. Paul Daniels it ain't, but rather imagine David Blaine meets the Munsters! Or something... Now that's what I call entertainment!
  21. Any Goth/Rock night promoters looking for something a bit different? If so, please get in touch. Gothic magic and psychic illussion, courtesy of my evil alter-ego Paul Bearer! Catch line: Always the Paul Bearer, never the Corpse...
  22. Thanks to everyone for the info. Much appreciated.
