Do a Google on DAP products, I read about them recently and noticed our vet stocked them and recommended them for bonfire night.

Is it acceptable to keep a dog outside ?
Yellowrose replied to Yellowrose's topic in Sheffield Pet Owners
Thanks. I notice its normally the bigger breeds you mention being outside. I always feel quite sorry for them though -
I did quite casually mention it to the vet during the vaccination appointment, he wasnt concerned, but gave us some prebiotic stuff in tablet form to add to his food. It could be that I suppose making them greeny grey.

Would appreciate the samples, happy to pay postage. I have just had a trial pack of Pero dog food delivered. I felt happy enough with the content etc. I am feeding it half and half with his previous food, but I am a bit concerned to find he has greeny grey motions. Is this normal? Anyone else used Pero? http://www.pero-petfood.co.uk/

Is it acceptable for a dog to live outside, in a pen, with a kennel? I have always kept our dogs in the house, but know someone who does this and wondered if it was a widespread practice? If you do keep them outside, do you bring them inside on bonfire night?

I didnt know there were James Wellbeloved wet pouches. The JWB we used was dried. I think it was Nature diet, but I dont want to mess about with that again. I might try Royal Canin or JWB again. I will see if they do samples because there is nothing worse than the huge bag in the kitchen that doesnt get eaten.

What I found really strange was that the new fashionable cross breeds, such as those above, were more expensive than some of the pedigrees. I considered a terrier cross, but it was so close in price to my Yorkie, I thought I might as well go the whole hog.

I could do with some suggestions for a good quality dried food for a Yorkshire Terrier. Since I last kept a dog there seems to have been an explosion of different brands of food, particularly the dry ones. Our puppy came with a large bag of Pets at Home dried puppy food, I dont know if its any good, or if I will be keeping him on this. I have previously used James Wellbeloved but the dog in question got fussy about eating this and we ended up with some natural stuff in pouches that was quite difficult to get. If he stays on dried food thats fine by me as its less messy or smelly. Would you like to offer any advice?

Why is it so hard to adopt a cat from R.S.P.C.A?
Yellowrose replied to chris52's topic in Sheffield Pet Owners
I can understand that some young children are allowed to make some animals lives a misery. But that isnt to say that young children and animals cant be raised together. If the children are taught how to treat the pet with respect and if the pet has a sanctuary from the kids it can work. Crates, playpens and stairgates are useful in this respect. Many dogs, my own included, love a good run around the garden with children. -
Dog re-homing transaction - advice please!
Yellowrose replied to Totty's topic in Sheffield Pet Owners
I saw similar scams when looking for my Yorkie pup, the prices were just too good to be true and in some cases they said free, but I expect further down the line there was a "rehoming charge" or "reservation fee". But pedigree pup prices are just crazy arent they? Mind you now Ive got my little Yorkie Im so glad, and he is worth every penny!! -
Why is it so hard to adopt a cat from R.S.P.C.A?
Yellowrose replied to chris52's topic in Sheffield Pet Owners
I know that there are extremely good reasons for RSPCA home checks and I agree that in some cases its necessary, but to be honest I find it a bit intrusive. Does anyone else feel like that? I dont need a lecture on the evils of irresponsible owners, Im just curious if anyone else resents someone inspecting their home. I also wonder if it forces some people to just go and buy a pet elsewhere? -
Are any human painkillers safe to give to dogs?
Yellowrose replied to KATIEB_23's topic in Sheffield Pet Owners
I understood that it was OK to give aspirin to dogs but it was cats that it was fatal for. But please check this up. I know my mum had an elderly dog with arthritis and she used to give him aspirin. -
Is this Sheffield Lane Top, near Netto?

Whilst I have no connection with Millhouses, and havent been there lately, when you said blue chemical, I immediately thought of methylene blue. It is used in fishkeeping as a disinfectant and it would kill algae but not harm the fish. I use it to clean out my fish tanks before I use them and to disinfect all associated equipment. This is just a guess though, and Im sure someone who knows more about this sort of thing will be delighted to tell me Im wrong. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methylene_blue http://www.novalek.com/kordon/methylene_blue/index.htm or it might be this: http://www.dyofix.co.uk/dyofix-blue.html

missing staffy s64 kilnhurst area
Yellowrose replied to rotherhamgir's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Excellent. Really pleased for her. -
This is one of the things I miss about Beighton, I used to live on Queens Road and there used to be a parade which came up there and went down Manvers Road (or have I got it the wrong way round???). Do they still have the parade?

Sorry if youve tried this already, but there is a rovvrem forum which although its small, the readers might be more local to you. But there's nothing wrong with posting on here, people who are outside Sheffield but have a Sheffield postcode, Sheffield connections or are just nearby often read it. Hope you find the dog. -
Decent hair dresser in sheffield
Yellowrose replied to deliphant's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
I didnt find Clippers on Robin Lane to be very good. I thought they were overpriced for what they were and the stylists kept disappearing to do other things which werent to do with hairdressing. This was about 5 years ago though and it may have changed hands. -
Anyone know of a good medium in Sheffield?

I found the above website most interesting and would advise anyone tempted to go to a medium to read it before they go. -
First Travel bus drivers urinating in the street!
Yellowrose replied to RedRocker's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
We live opposite a bus stop which fronts a wooded area and its not bus drivers that we see going behind it for a pee but men who have just turned out of the nearby club. Obviously its not easy enough to go for a pee whilst they were in the club. I feel sorry for the bus drivers and I think the management should schedule comfort breaks for them! I can imagine that First Bus were more concerned about the driver leaving his bus than the public seeing him having a pee though. First Bus arent good employers though and dont give a toss about their employees. -
I parked at what was the former MFI car park, Moorfoot/London Rd area, went into Wilkinsons across the road, got a private parking ticket. I had no idea I wasnt supposed to park there and couldnt see a sign, but another victim pointed out a sign which was away from the entrance and exit and the part I parked in, so not particularly visible. When I parked I looked for a pay and display but didnt see one apart from the ones for the on street parking. Therefore I have decided the charge is unjustified. I have read one or two articles on this on MSE and other places. I have decided either not to pay and ignore, or write and dispute. Has anyone else got one of these and what did you do? http://http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?autocom=ibwiki&cmd=article&id=56

This one gets the prize! (a takeaway!) I must print this out and have it ready. I also like the one about the overcharged credit card.

We get about one call a week from someone saying "can I place an order" or "can I have a delivery". I usually say, youve got the wrong number. I get a bit fed up when these calls get me out of bed though and tend to swear at them. I was a bit bored tonight so I said, "yes, what do you want?" curious about who they thought I was. I was asked for a chicken and mushroom pizza and garlic bread. I started to think of alternative responses. Can anyone suggest any really clever ones?
