  1. I hope it won't be as disruptive as the Park Grange road work has been, it's been an absolute nightmare! Let's hope the Park Grange road users are over the worst!
  2. Is it not embedded from station to ponds forge and beyond? Haven't really paid attention to it really! West Street will be interesting
  3. I'm very happy that the trams are back on. I couldn't believe how quick it was compared to the B2s! What does worry me though is what further disruption there will be in future for the blue route from Spring Lane into town. The tracks have only been replaced as far down as Park Grange Croft tram stop. Will all the tracks from there into city centre have to be replaced also at some point causing more chaos?!
  4. The local primary school I am very impressed with however yes the local secondary school is at the minute struggling considerably. This is the case for many schools at the moment and is a concern however unless you can afford to live in an area with consistently outstanding schools then I would still recommend living there. It's all down to personal opinion and this happens to be mine based on personal experience. We all want different things from the areas/ type of property we choose to live in. If anyone chooses to think differently about living in this area then that's also ok. Hope this helps the original poster.
  5. If anyone is interested in the above housing development I would disregard the above poster. The area around the Cutlers development is very quiet (apart from the current tram works!) and full of families, professionals and a few students. Speaking as one of those "existing local peasants" (my husband and I both having professional qualifications and jobs) I would highly recommend it.
  6. I was sitting for almost10mins on the bus before it set off, I would have been in town by that time on the tram! Also I'm now struggling at home with the considerable noise levels coming from the works:(
  7. It is an utter shambles, how all those people that usually go on the tram are going to fit on the buses is beyond me. The service should be every 10 mins and stop at the tram stops or as near to as possible. Im on the stopping service so its very inconvenient especially with a pushchair. I'm going to walk to granville road and use the already established regular buses, 42/44 to get to town, bit of a walk though.
  8. Hi, I use this part of the tram service regularly and I'm not happy with the bus replacement service they intend to put on. The leaflets we first received said that the replacement service would mirror the tram service however the circular bus which stops is only every 20 mins ( except on Saturdays when it is 10 mins) . This, therefore does not mirror the existing tram service. The direct service is only from Spring Lane so anyone living near to the Park Grange/Road tram stops are very inconvenienced. That's if I've understood the leaflets correctly as they are not easy reading!! Also many people with wheelchairs and prams use the trams. I can see those people having to wait a long time for a space on an overcrowded replacement bus. I am also concerned about noise levels which these works may create. We have been woken up many times over the past few months by engineering works taking place on the tram tracks overnight.
  9. Just wanted to say that it is really refreshing to see a positive post about Springs Academy after all the negative things which have previously been said. Also it was a lovely thing to write and I would be proud too. Thank you for sharing this.
  10. For me this is purely about not wanting my child to go to a school that is failing badly and is clearly in trouble. I don't think many parents would want that for their children.
  11. I don't use a childminder but I also doubt that it would be relevant to a secondary school admission.
  12. Thanks, will try Dronfield Henry Fanshawe when the time comes then, bit worried that its oversubscribed though but thanks for advice, didn't really think about schools outside of sheffield.
  13. Thanks for replies, muddergoose, do you mind telling me which school you are talking about in Derbyshire? I wondered how easy it was to get into newfield and handsworth seen as it says all applicants got a place on the sheffield council website? I would like Birley but that seems a bit more difficult looking at the numbers.
  14. Hi, I wondered how likely it is to get into a school out of catchment area, we live in Springs catchment and definitely do not want our kids going there. I've read all the council info re admissions and applying for 3 schools/appeal process etc but wondered if anyone had experience of doing this?
  15. It sounds like bullying is quite common there unfortunately:( What i find disheartening is that throughout its relatively short history there has never been a positive report, ofsted or otherwise unless i have missed something. This leads me to think that the chances of significant improvement are slim? does anyone know the chances of getting into an alternative school such as meadowhead, birley, or newfield when out of catchment? Has anybody applied for different schools and got in without having to appeal or go to springs first?
