  6. We are wanting to run some Toddlers & Babies First Aid (Family) courses specifically for parents or indeed any grandparents, family members, friends etc who may have or look after babies and toddlers. This is brand new to us and cost will be minimal as we will be doing these to give something back to community in a way that we think can help others make a difference when it really matters. It will take a few goes to get it right but provisionally , no more than 2 hours long and will be a very practical course covering Choking, CPR, Unconscious, Shock and if possible (time permitting) looking at principles of bleeding, breaks and burns. This will be a basic course in only 2 hours where we just want people to understand how and what to do and build the self confidence up a bit to be able to then do something. Course may change time wise or be amended depending on feedback and people can attend more than one course to get more practice or just stay on a little longer at end. We do want to run these courses but do also need ideas beforehand from everyone and feedback after, so we can ensure people get the most from the courses and also best times to run them? Also we can do individuals at our training room in S8, or can visit groups at their location. Maximum numbers per course is 12 . Let us know what everyone thinks please as we want to get it right. Much more in depth courses are available but those are really aimed at nannies, childminders etc, and are recognised by ofsted/eyfs/surestart. email : [email protected] or ring 07861498360

  8. Hi everyone. Our pet first aid course is also CPD certified if you need that for business or your portfolio, but as dog owners or people looking after others dogs , mainly the thing is the understanding, skills and most importantly the self confidence to do something when it matters. This course is also available online , but it is far better to do practical with an instructor as you can ask questions and practice . Good luck with whoever or whichever course you do , as most importantly , you are providing the help our dogs need in an emergency or even the run of the mill stuff. Can we also ask that everyone puts the VETS number into their mobile phone as they are always able to offer advice when it is needed.
  9. Thanks for this. Do you drive , or can we share? ---------- Post added 05-04-2013 at 16:12 ---------- This sounds great as well. Will be in touch and thanks.
  10. Any individuals or groups who might like a new member or walking companion? Usually walk alone but much prefer other company. Maybe also doing some more of pennine way this year, but usually peak district or more local walks preferred.
  11. We would be interested in running some first aid courses aimed at families with children or for other family members, friends etc who might pick them up from school or look after them etc.. Course all about understanding and practical to build confidence about what to do in emergencies, but also some of the minor stuff as well. A nominal cost, but this is much more about us giving something to people who could sometimes do with a little more help. I know when I first became a parent I could have done with something like this. Course no longer than 2 hours and we have child and baby manikins. If you are interested as individuals or a group , get in touch and we will arrange something. [email protected] or 07861 498360 Martin
  12. Hi Everyone. Our next Pet first aid course is Sunday 14 April , 1000 start. Our curriculum is pretty much same as other one posted on here so looks like our courses are very similar. Whats really good is that people can now have an option of when, who with and where to train, and ultimately the most important thing is that more people are able to do the training which will be much more beneficial to our dogs . I personally think everyone should attend first aid courses as part of schooling as it is really a life skill and also builds confidence. anyway off my soapbox now !! lol. Martin
  13. Hi everyone. Apologies as new to forum so need more posts to reply directly. Our Pet first aid course is designed to build on knowledge and skills, but really about building then having confidence in yourself and thus to do something positive for your pet when it really matters. We cover CPR,Unconscious, Shock, Bleeding, Breaks, Burns, Pet Proofing, contacting vet and using whatever you have with you to best advantage. Free downloadable course manual on completion and certificate. Most of all though we tell you what the book says then talk reality but have fun doing it. Nice and relaxed. Next course this sunday 24th March 2013, £30 pp Martin 07861498360 ---------- Post added 20-03-2013 at 09:26 ---------- Just seen comment about certain issues affecting cpr training. Most people should be able to do first aid training , even if almost full term, however care MUST be taken and any concerns at all you must stop immediately. Whether you do our course or not is irrelevant, but you should be able to do the cpr at a height other than on ground , ie on table or possibly chair which should reduce issues as far as possible. Ultimately it is your choice and the trainer if they agree, should make all practicable adjustments to help you. Martin
