Anyone know the best place to get a Drum kit?
feelinolder replied to lisa22's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
You can't beat a good drum! -
I have Sky+ which is great and I have connected my DVD player /home cinema to it via a scart lead. I also have an old VCR connected to the Sky+ via a second scart lead. This means I can transfer recorded programmes to VHS before deleting them from Sky+. I cannot record programmes directly onto VHS as Sky+ gets priority from the dish. [which is fine] This Christmas I'm thinking of ditching the old VCR and replacing it with a cheap DVD recorder. Does any one know if I can set it up so that I can record programmes directly to DVD should I want to on the odd occassion? If not I will just use it as before - to transfer stuff from Sky+

Sheffield's cream and blue buses
feelinolder replied to little malc's topic in Sheffield History & Expats
If anyone is nostalgic for the old cream and blue Sheffied buses the Corgi model car people do two or three of them. You can buy them from the model shop in Fitzallan Square. -

Well done to the idiot who once again over Sunday evening and Monday morning smashed two shelters on Middlewood Road leaving glass everywhere. How very clever of you. You must be proud.

# Oh yes and the big pockets on the thighs!
-
You got the necklace exactly right - they were a solid ring with your initial of your first name on them. Can you remember lads wearing Rupert trousers and Prince of Wales check trousers?
-
Does this mean anything to anyone?
-
What about those necklace things with your initials on them? and tank tops. Denim waistcoates? Hair parted down the middle - those were the days!

EMA eduation maintenance allowance-daft
feelinolder replied to FallenAngel6's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
My lad is 18 with educational needs and goes to the new Hillsborough college 3 days per week. He has to pay £4 a day bus fares and cannot get any concession because he is 18. A weekly saver etc is not worth his while purchasing because to be honest he only uses the bus for college because the service is useless where we live. -
Does anyone know whats happening to this building - is it still empty??

Park Drive Cigs Football Books
feelinolder replied to feelinolder's topic in Sheffield History & Expats
was it 1967 with george on the front ? -
I seem to remember a pal of mine at school in the 60's enrolling me in a club called Keg Meg. You sent off and got some sort of badge and certificate but I can't recall anythinmg else about it. Anyone else remember it?
-
The current news of George Best being in hospital sparked memories of me as a lad in the 60'searching the streets of Hillsborough for empty Park Drive cigarette packets because when you collected a certain number you sent them off and got a football book in return. I think I remember that 1967 had George Best on the front cover. Any body remember the book or even still got it?

Stannington road hairdressing shop 50s/60/70s/80s/etc
feelinolder replied to saraa's topic in Sheffield History & Expats
When I lived in Stannington in the early 70's as a teenage lad I went in there once for a haircut. They had fancy chairs that allowed the hairdresser/barber to sit while he cut your hair. He sort of sat and span round you as he moved around cutting your hair - never saw those chairs anywhere else. Anyone remember them?
