  1. Can someone enlighten me as to what a dual core processor is and is it better [faster] than a normal processor.
  2. The reason you are finding more car drivers are not allowing space for cyclists on the near side is as because of the increase in motor bikes who pass legitimately on the outside [ in standing traffic] but who do so at a frightening speed often just missing the car by the smallest of gaps. I for one am giving them as much space as I can - thankyou. If you are a cyclist and want to go round me then do so like everyone else, around the outside. Stop making your own rules up and then blaming drivers when we dont play along.
  3. Doesn't stop them though does it? Some people just want to stick 2 fingers up to everyone else in any way they can.
  4. What about the people who insist on driving around with their music blasting out at a million decibels - how come thts not illegal too?
  5. It's not just driving whilst using the mobile either - I have seen women applying make up, men shaving, drinking from soft drink cans, eating sandwiches, map reading - all equally distracting surely. And what about TV presenters driving whilst talking to camera!
  6. Obviously there are good and bad car drivers just as there are good and bad motor bikers / cyclists. As a car driver it infuriates me when a motorbike rider insists on riding behind me about 3 inches away from my back bumper, headlight blazing whilst waiting until he can whip by me. I would only have to press lightly on the brakes and splat!! Also you cyclists overtake both on the nearside and offside of cars. We car drivers have to have eyes in the back of our heads sometimes. Yes I have nearly knocked off a cyclist passing me on the inside -only because I was moving over to the left to give a bit more room to some motor bike nutter who was blasting up on the right hand side whilst negotiating his way past all the standing rush hour traffic. Why don't cyclists over take properly on the right?
  7. Aye that figures.... probably just me again as usual. I make traffic lights turn red too.
  8. Really disappointed with their service recently. We've had some problems with deliveries and they promised to ring me 2 or 3 times to sort it out and never have. Anyone had similar experiences or am I just unlucky? Shopped with them before but this has put me right off them!
  9. I also turn my PC off every night so every day I switch the PC and Router back on again then click on Internet Explorer to establish the connection - no idea if this is recommended or not!! Anyway good news - my wife has just rang to say we are back up and running so hopefully everyone else will soon be too.
  10. Done that then as there's only an on/off button and I switch off every night. Although it was still not working this morning the BT testing software they provide said it could now recognise the broadband connection whereas last night it didn't. When clicking on the Internet Explorer icon [my usual connection method] the connection just fails. Any other ideas anyone - thanks.

  12. It is a router - don't know how to re-set it though. I will see what happens tonight - cheers.
  13. Lost my BT broadband connection last night .. phoned BT and they had a recorded message saying they were having loads of problems and listed areas they knew about but Sheffield was not mentioned. Just wondered if anyone else had any problems. Still not working this morning - typing this at work.
  14. ....or a normal person who is simply distracted for a moment
  15. In a perfect world we should all do all sorts of things we don't actually. I hope for your childs sake you don't meet someone high on drugs/drink who isn't following all the gentlemanly rules of the Queens highway.
  16. It's just that if the bike had skidded on wet leaves or anything and slipped in under my car - what chance would the little fella have stood? It just seems crazy that this sort of thing is legal and without the need of any insurance whatsoever.
  17. It's the idea of the seat itself that I'm uneasy about. The child in the seat perched behind his dad in the rush hour traffic looked so exposed and vunerable to any slighest mishap. Perhaps on a nice quiet rural lane it is ok but in the middle of Sheffield rush hour - I don't think so.
  18. How can strapping a small child/toddler into a seat on a bicycle behind the parent be sensible/legal when motorists now have to buy a special seat to protect their small kiddies? I followed such a contraption this evening and was staggered at just how unprotected and exposed the child was. Makes no sense to me!
  19. I think different dongles must work in different ways depending on the manufacturers software that accompanies them. Right clicking my icon in the system tray does not bring up that option I'm afraid.
  20. I think the problem might be with Windows - as an experiment can someone try using the "add printers and other hardware" icon in control panel then select Bluetooth and see if the wizzard works for you please?
  21. Thanks- I have played around with the settings for a couple of hours but cannot find anything that works. I used to have a different brand dongle which I have since lost which did exactly the same but in addition when right clicking on the image and selecting send gave an other option other than using the Windows wizzard - it gave a list of all other bluetooth devices my PC could see - I then just selected the one I wanted. This dongle doesn't do that unfortunately.
  22. I have a BT Bluetooth dongle connected to my PC. This allows my mobile phone to transfer images to the pc with no problem. However if I try to send images from the PC to the phone - the pc cannot find the phone. The method I am using is right clicking the image - send to - bluetooth file transfer wizzard - browse. A message then comes up saying "Windows cannot find any bluetooth devices make sure your bluetooth radio is connected etcI - the bluetooth device is obviously connected and working as it is allowing images to be sent from the phone. Any suggestions please?
  23. Are you sure stopping is not mandatory - if so whats the point of the crossing? These crossings are placed in recognised 'busy' areas in an effort to aid pedestrians to cross safely. If cars don't stop when people are stood waiting at the side of the crossing, then they aren't serving a purpose. The position of this particular crossing is very poor. At peak times cars have to wait ages to feed into the main road from both Jaw Bone and Church Street and many cut in at great speed into the smallest of breaks in traffic out of frustration at the amount of time spent waiting to be allowed in. When doing this it is very difficult to see if the crossing is clear or not. Plus the added burden of buses pulling into the bus stop and the crazy new zig zag layout and I'm afraid it's only a matter of time before there is an accident.
  24. I honestly think a lot of drivers don't actually know they have to stop if a pedestrian is waiting to cross on a zebra crossing!
  25. I'm having some work done on the house by a builder. He has had loads of bricks, paving slabs etc. delivered and they are left at the front of the house. What is the situation if they get nicked overnight? Should he have insurance for this or will I get lumbered with forking out twice?
