  1. All those nice Liberal Democrats are hiding behind the fence, all that is left are the nasty Tory party(and UKIP) and some raving left wingers.
  2. I guess it would be another thread, but dont the Tories pretend to be free market Conservatives http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-19832916
  3. Surely the right time to build up your infrastructure is when you have the money to do it. If you are in the 'good times' what else should you do? So you are saying that u should borrow to build infrastructure that you didnt want to build in the good times, stuff that you dont really need, like HS2?
  4. Not sure what your point is, about Labour. Are you saying that they will spend too much, but havnt they said they would balance the books? Didnt all parties borrow more, 20 years ago? I dont see that todays parties are the same as decades ago, they have all learnt more.
  5. I agree that social housing must meet the needs of the people wanting it, if they can pay for it; but if they cannot pay for a nice house and garden, then other things that are cheaper must be made available.
  6. I am thinking about buying this one too. http://www.ebay.com/itm/161774819729?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  7. I have used both types of batteries in mine; I just made sure I got cree LED.
  8. Its supply and demand, I dont think the Government should set rent prices or any other prices. I am sure there could be some price fixing that could be good for society, I can think of the minimum wage, are there others? I am not a landlord.
  9. Minimum rented bedroom size proposed by government! Is it the job of the Government to dictate what size bedrooms must be? Our Government does seem to be rather authoritarian. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-34756249?SThisFB
  10. There should be more flexibility in the courts, fast drivers(not drug takers) should have their vehicles limited to 65 mph, and a tachograph installed.
  11. I bought from this seller http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3000LM-XML-T6-LED-Zoomable-Zoom-Flashlight-Torch-HM2-26650-18650-/390726382550?hash=item5af91b73d6:g:UbkAAOSwjVVV2oZS
  12. This does sound more like something that would happen in another country, the USA. Fines should go towards supporting the Police, the fines from parking has been deemed illegal if the councils use it as a method of raising money.
  13. Prior to this new diktat coming from Westminster, maths, english, science, PE and RE were the only compulsory lessons.
  14. Now we have got past the headline, are there any facts about performance vs cost? I looked on wiki, not even a mention. I did see Lincolnshire Police in the news for calling for an end to nuisance calls.
  15. Three police forces are considering outsourcing their control rooms to private security firm G4S. The Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Northamptonshire forces have asked G4S to carry out a feasibility study to see what it might be able to offer. Emergency services with a profit motive, if they want a cheaper service, why not just ask there own 999 service to cut costs. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-34707762
  16. The article from the BBC says ALL children should do the new GSCEs, but that equates to 90% if you take account of SEN. but what about those in the bottom classed that are not SEN? I was in class 3/4 out of 8, and I consider myself to be better off learning none academic stuff.
  17. If more than 10% are special needs, then 90% do not have the ability to get six GCSEs. A large percentage of pupils should be taught none academic skills, as they are now. Some children are academic, and some are not. Perhaps you can tell from my posts, I have forgotten most of what I learnt at school.
  18. I start with the thinking that the Tories are out of touch with "write off" children, do the Tories know any of these kids? I thought choice was a Tory buzz word in education. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-34700911 ---------- Post added 03-11-2015 at 21:01 ---------- Official figures, show that affluent Richmond upon Thames in west London has 11.8 per cent of primary pupils on the SEN register. In Liverpool, with its higher levels of unemployment and poverty, that figure is 22.6 per cent. So are SEN, and the vast resources that accompany it, being used as an excuse for poor parenting? So much for 90% taking the baccalaureate. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/9260331/Can-20-per-cent-of-schoolchildren-really-have-special-needs.html
  19. It was reported as a change to what they do now. How many GCSEs do they take in total. I did not do History of Geography, are some of the kids that dont take the practical education those that cannot change a light bulb or a plug?
  20. In secondary school, there is clarification of the target that all pupils will have to take traditional GCSE subjects, in the English baccalaureate. This requires pupils to take GCSEs in English, maths, history or geography, two sciences and a language. It all looks like too much big brother forcing children to learn what the Government wants. When I was at school, I also studied metal work, tech drawing and computer studies. Now the Government wants children to take six subjects, plus some of their own choice?
  21. Just seen a bus rip of a cars rear bumper, they were only going slow, in a 20mph area. I guess all he could see was a mass of red from all those fog lights, and the cars 4 bright front lights. Take care out there.
  22. He used to be a translator for the U.S. army, so he was trusted some years ago.
  23. Trying to solve a lack of decent care allowance by the use of free parking is ludicrous. Just like giving pensioners freebies, just let people have some sort of 'fair' benefit.
  24. I agree, why just a small number of people to get free parking? I dont object to a small fee for parking, for everyone.
