  3. RUTTER REQUIEM. Singers from Fox Valley Voices, Stannington Mixed Choir and Thurgoland Community Choir join forces to perform Rutter’s glorious Requiem, one of the most popular compositions of the last 30 years. The evening showcases the flourishing musical tradition of the towns and villages in the north of the city and also contains classical and popular items from each choir. The concert includes the premiere of ‘Night Sky Partials’, a new work by Sheffield based Composer, Joseph Shaw. Saturday May 27th. Victoria Hall Methodist Church, Sheffield.   5. Supporting the Maer Achol Shelter for orphaned, homeless and abandoned children who live, work and survive on the streets of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Something for everyone as Singers, Dancers, Community Choirs & Musicians of all ages from across Sheffield & South Yorkshire perform pop, rock, folk, opera and classics. Great for those studying music, or just a few days fun during the holidays! Come and learn to write, sing/play and produce brand new songs with original musical material. Midsummer 68 has comedy, great sixties music, love and intrigue all based around a group of steelworkers latest ‘Am Dram’ production in Greno Woods! The Barrack was used as a mortuary following the disaster.This evening of poems, memoirs and music marks the pubs involvement on that terrible night.

Flower power has reached the North of England, Stringfellow dominates the nightclub scene and the city has played host to the greatest musicians of the time. In the steel industry, nationalised three years previously, business is on the up! However some residents of the city seem to be having problems with the Master Cutler’s upcoming wedding.   15. Monday 12th to Wednesday 14th August 10am to 3pm Bannerdale Centre, 125 Carterknowle Road, Sheffield. S7 2EX A great chance for young people aged 13 – 18 to experience what it takes to create a song from original sketches to the final recording. The course covers the skills of song writing, composing, singing, jamming and recording and is particularly useful for young people taking or planning to take music courses at GCSE, AS or A2. The course is led by Jack Chapman & Martin Thiselton, local professional musicians with extensive experience in composition and performing. Both are experienced teachers and fully CRB / DBS checked.   17. Inyerface Theatre Company need more young people aged 10 – 18 for our new rock musical version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Workshops & auditions will take place at Burton Street Project, Hillsborough at 5pm on Tuesday July 9th, 16th & 23rd. Full rehearsals will start at the end of August for the production in the Library Theatre on October 4th & 5th. Inyerface provide opportunities for young people whatever their background, experience or circumstances to act or sing live on stage. We keep costs to a minimum (£2 per session) and operate an open, no audition policy.
