The Barleycorn changed its name to THE CAMBRIDGE in the mid 1970's and cleaned itself up a bit. I think it was the building that became CUTLERS bar and is now an arts centre or something....correct me if I am wrong though

food? really? Thats my actual nearest pub in distance terms, but didn't realize they had a food offer on. But not been in for years now

never really liked the Proove Pizza that much myself, but it was OK especially when they used to have the mobile stand at the Rising Sun in Nethergreen, and then later, before it shut down, the Bulls Head at Ranmoor

A very different city centre experience, been going there on and off since the early 80's....had its share of problems but a cheap and cheerful pint of Sam Smiths best bitter was always very pleasant

I have not seen it, must check it out

Drove past this morning and it's all fenced off and looking very sorry for itself TBH. I can see it falling to dereliction very fast. Shame, as used to be one of my favourite locals, a very lively place at one time. Of course, I am going FAR back into time, when a pint was only 50 pence!! About 8 years ago I viewed this as a potential pub to take on, while it was still open but not exactly thriving. Can't remember the name of the Area Manager now but the rent was utterly REDICULOUS at the time and no chance of any profit from it at all, so had to walk away. Shame, as I liked it's 'atmosphere'. Sadly missed as a 'proper' local, in the old skool pub sense. Must do a photoshoot before it starts to look any worse.

Not been for a while, it used to have a good following. One of my locals and a firm favourite for decent beer, but can't say I have ever attenpted the quiz itself

An excellent film all round, but shame it didnt really bring out the BEST of Sheffield!!!! Seeing the Moor 'explode' was hardly good for tourism in the direct sense, but even today the film stand up and is very atmospheric.

Anyone know of any current Vinyl record nights in venues around Sheffield area? I am a bit out of touch at present, used to be one at the Washington and frog and Parrot but I talking maybe 3+ years ago now... Looking for vinyl nights, any music genre.....

If I could borrow a TARDIS I would love to go back and film these lost record stores....What a day of filming that would make!!!! I guess modern record shops are light years away from these old emporiums?

What about an update on the current Sheffield Record shops open in 2018? Does anyone use local record shops for buying vinyl in Sheffield? Anyone any comments on Sheffield's vinyl record shops, I want to make location video at many of them as part of my youtube channel, but currently am not too sure if any new ones have sprung up recently? My old favourite is record Collector in Broomhill, but I know there are several others, so any experience of them in the form of comments here would be useful.

Will be working on it daily. It could go in many different directions but should be fun. Developing a youtube channel based in Sheffield, sort of online journal as well as about collecting records. if anyone interested, there will be TONS of location based videos coming over the year. The channel is called VINYLKATS, and I want to build up a large base of Sheffield made video material, not just about record collecting, but as a sort of online resource as well. Check the link in my signature, as I could do with a few youtube subscriptions to my channel to help grow it. There will be a web site too but not developed this yet. Takes a lot of work to get a Youtube channel running successfully, but with lots of forthcoming video material based in Sheffield and surrounds, I think it will start to grow. Happy New Year!
