  1. Hi Ali Latif. I was in Yacub's class at Whitby Road. I was head girls at the time, Linda Hayward. Then went to Waltheof. I loved your brother cos of his white pearly teeth haha He and Terence Halliday and me went to Atterclife Baths ALL the time then we'd play on the canal for hours. You went be Ali Bin Ahmed I think? ---------- Post added 02-12-2014 at 22:34 ---------- Ali, what is Yuqub up to these days? I have lived in California for the past 35 years. I would love to have a Waltheof reunion if some one would organize it? Any offers anyone?? ---------- Post added 02-12-2014 at 22:43 ---------- Mr Saxon died shortly after retiring. Very special man. I was head girl at Whitby Road in about 1966 or 67. I was in the Yellow team, Hamiltons. Linda Hayward. I loved sports and swimming and was head of the rounders team for the last 2 yrs.
  2. I remember David Waller, he lived at the end of our street in the same yard as the Chapmans, next door in fact. Linda Lees, Michael Johnson, my first boyfreind at age 9 or 10, Denise Potts, who lived on the main road near Kevin Burns. She was always top of the class. Does anyone remember Christine???? who lived on Manderville Street. She shared my birthday Oct 4th 1956 and died of Lukeimia around J2, Janice Lilly, her mum was blind. Susan I remember your name but not your face. We were in the sa e year. I was in 1A 2A etc We lived at 79 Nightingale St. Next door live Jane Shepherd a year youger and her youger brother Paul. The Pasks on Frederick St. Who was the spastic boy with the irons on his legs. He used to go to Manderville St church? His brother lived behind us on Frederick St over the wall. He got put away for murdering a girl on that same road. He mistook the girl for one of the Pasks. She was about 19 at the time. He had done time earlier for knocking off the guard at Cravens when the payroll came in, and robbed him. We should all just get together, have a reunion and write a book or make a TV series! I will come if someone can organize a reunion..it would be great.
  3. I Linda Hayward, went to WR started in 1961, remember all those teachers I loved Mr Saxson. We all remember Mr Ellis. He was the school rounders team leader too and thought he was IT. But he couldn't even hit a ball. I remember Yvonne Speight from Waltheof. She got expelled towards the end of her lsat year. She ran off with a gypsy that was laying new roads outside her house. Said she was pregnant, but I don't believe she really was. Too bad as she was a great athlete. Does anyone know the wearabouts of Elaine Chapman. She was my best friend all through schools Haven't seen her in 35+ yrs. They lived at the bottom of Nightingale St and Darnall Main road and owned an appliance store until they tore down those homes
  4. There was also a very tall Physics teacher that we called Lurch(as in the Adams family) He was dark & ugly. When you messed around, he would pick you up by the scruff of your collar with one hand and plonk you in the hall. We had to go to the Darnall Annex building to do Domestic science, and if you talked you got locked it the pantry with the mice and NO light Ohhhhhh the good ol days
  5. Sweetcheeks, I was there from 67-72. I remember all these teachers. Also Miss Sarson, DW Smith, Mr Battersby, Miss Batty, Mr Rawlings, (they married each other) Who was the teacher that lived in Darnall on Darnall Main Rd right before it turned into Staniforth Rd? He hated black kids. He once got Linval Madden and used him like a battering ram and rammed his head into the wall in the classroom. putting a hole in it.
  6. I went there, started in 1961. I had all those teachers except bogey flicker, but had him for the rounders team coach. I was head girl in 67. I loved that school. I was in the Hamptons team Go yellows!!!!

  8. Taine.. I remember a Gary Booker. He went to Waltheof, could be born in 56/57 He was a right bully. Big heavy lad that everyone was afraid of. Just know he lived in Darnall somewhere
  9. no, didn't win that one. We played at Concord park a lot. I also played basketball with the Sheff Hatters for 6 or7 yrs. Betty Cododna was the coach and her kids Lorraine & Vanessa Ellis played too Ann Skelton, Lorraine Morris, and a lot of faces I remember but no names are coming back
  10. Are you kidding!! I tell them we invented the game and they made it wussy with their gloves and hats and needing a bigger bat.
  11. So your cottage must have been where the sand pit was. Was your cottage between a garage ( as in a place to park a car not a gas station) with a flat roof and on the other side a big house with a big wall all the way around and big gates facing Darnall Rd? I think you are right about the Vine being up Vine St. I don't remember a pawn shop, but there was a corner grocery shop that sold bonfire lollies for 3d and a few doors down the beeroff, the butcher, the junkman going away from the pub. Opposite was a newsagents another butcher and one more shop I think. The Biney family lived in the first house up nightingale St next to the sandpit there was 3 generations of them. There was a boy in my class called Paul (Born in 56/57)who had 2 brothers that lived in the yard behind the chippy. Always let me ride his bike! Happy memories :-)
  12. Anyone play for the Hillsborogh Allstars mixed rounders in 80. We won every cup possible that year. National, Yorkshire, Sheffield etc We had Linda, Wendy Sandy Sue and Jill make up the ladies. Mick & Dave & Lol in the field covering the bases. David bowled and Graham backstopped...remember the song?
  13. Yes I did that a couple of times too, but never for Liverpool and Wimbledon. Sorry, Sheffield United fan at the time. We'd all be squished against the wall. They have expanded into next door, so more space. Also seeting ouside with an enclosed patio. Peppermills is not here.
  14. I loved all those clothes from sexy rexies. Our head of girls at Waltheof, Miss (virgin) Sarson, made us take out the laces of the Barters shoes cos they were striped instead of plain!! What's loons???
