  1. Cleethorpes - 72 miles, Southport 89 miles Not too sure either of them appeal.
  2. There's also been power cuts at Hall Park Head and Wisewood.
  3. Acorn estate bins have been emptied this morning
  4. If you live in North Sheffield then Diveworld on Holme Lane at Hillsborough are affiliated to SDS which will save you a trip across Sheffield. Steve or Lou will be happy to advise you.
  5. This is in todays Star http://www.thestar.co.uk/news/local/sheffield-cancer-survivor-appeals-for-prized-bmw-s-return-after-car-thieves-strike-1-6998083
  6. They were painting new white lines at the top of the ramps last night so it looks as though they are re-opening it. The only problem with this is people will start using it as a rat run as they did in the past
  7. If it's council pay it or appeal. If it's a private parking company don't pay it but don't ignore it. Follow the advice on the following thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163
  8. Most definitely. It's quicker to go into the new post office counter in the Spar now
  9. They haven't wasted any time. Looks like building work started yesterday. the site is caged off and builders vans there.
  10. Well I'm finally connected to infinity after a lot of messing about getting ADSL first to clear the damned tags issue. I too still have my cellpipe and Tenda router. In order to get my advance payments back I invoked the direct debit guarantee through my bank and had £35 refunded instantly. I have emailed Origin to inform them of this and also asked how to pay them the 2 weeks I now owe them up until 14th August and also asked them to send me a pre paid packet to return the router and cellpipe. Surprisingly I have had no response
  11. It's not a rumor any more http://www.thestar.co.uk/news/local/disused-sheffield-pub-could-be-turned-into-tesco-express-1-6876364
  12. They shouldn't still be there try emailing gavin.e.patterson@bt.com which is what I did. Plenty of info on this thread http://drlforum.co.uk/showthread.php?tid=1327 Hope this helps.
  13. Cancer research will be very good for that I ordered infinity yesterday having been on Origin. It took 5 weeks for the tags to be removed and had to order adsl which went live yesterday. As soon as adsl went live it freed up the line for infinity (I didn't need another line either although a neighbour did). I live on the Acorn estate so definitely in Stannington:hihi: Try the BT postcode checker for a Stannington address and you will see for yourself.
  14. Although the Council issued the tickets this was simply down to Amey incompetence. Their staff left the diversion signs in place when they should have removed them. The council have actually behaved honourably and are refunding the motorists without the need for them to claim it back unlike York Council who have made millions from the illegal bus lanes over the bridge in to the town and now only refunding people if they ask for the money back!
  15. Hi Darren, I've never heard of duocall but was with Origin until last week. they told me a load of lies about seamless migration which has not happened and I have now curtailed my contract with them. The big issue most people now have is that the DR "Tags" that are on our phonelines have not been removed (as promised) and therefore we can't even order new broadband services without changing numbers at the moment. The tags will take up to 2 weeks to be removed. There are loads of unhappy customers on Origins facebook pages and Think Broadband website has some information. If I was you I would start looking for a new broadband provider but it's not going to be an easy ride.
  16. Another vote for Bell and Buxton. They drafted me a specialist Will at a fraction of other costs I was quoted from various other sources. Charles Neal is a Will specialist unlike some other solicitors who are Jack of all trades. They area also Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) accredited.
  17. Crawshaws at Hillsborough are excellent. I've used them ever since they opened in the Barracks
  18. The roads and the footpaths have all just been relaid (including the kerbs where necessary) and the kerbs in front of the shops have been "dropped" for at least 25 years which is when I first moved to Stannington. The area to the front of the shops is privately owned up to the footpath therefore the "authorities" (Council and Police) have no powers. Additionally no-one has mentioned access to the Co-Op across the pavement either which is a designated parking area. The main problem is that vehicles park in contravention of the double yellows and also park on the footpath and the council do nothing about it. This problem isn't just confined to Stannington or Sheffield though - it's something that happens all over.
  19. I believe they're turning it into a traffic signal controlled junction. Whether it's going to be an improvement on the roundabout is open to conjecture. Personally I think it will slow traffic flow down.
  20. Well there is a new road sign at the junction of Ben Lane and Dykes Hall Rd but it actually reads DKYES HALL RD. Anyone else noticed it? I can't believe no-one noticed it from manufacture to installation.
  21. It's the one in the Spar up in the village that's being refurbished. they have signs up inside.
  22. I took an MX5 up to them a few years back after a recommendation and they came back like new wheels. Top quality company
  23. I have just won a case against UKCPS for my son who was moving out of North Bank in Sheffield. Loads of information on moneysaving expert website on how to fight these sharks but you do have to follow the exact rules and not let your emotions get involved. It is a legal process and mitigation does not work. My process is here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=4840737 DO NOT IGNORE THE LETTER. THEY WILL TAKE YOU TO COURT AND WIN IF YOU DO>
