  1. I've just had the lib dem pamphlet through the door. I didn't realise that all council decisions since March have been made by 1 person due to the council invoking emergency measures. Amongst other things they are giving 16 million pounds back to central Government in unspent business support schemes that could have gone to local causes like other councils have done, Sheffield Council Tax payers have also bailed out Scarborough Leisure facilities (run by SCT), and £33,000 was wasted on the Shalesmoor bike lane scheme that was implemented and then taken up when it caused chaos. Speechless
  2. I always park on Herries Rd, if you can't get a spot above the entrance then there's always space on the road opposite the ambulance entrance just above where Sheffield Windows used to be.
  3. Just had a Lib Dem leaflet through my door that states the council are imposing £70 fines for people queuing at their tips with a picture of the Shirecliffe site on the front. How long have they been doing this and is it all tips?
  4. It was a Police pursuit apparently, stolen car around Fox Hill and then Loxley
  5. Great, common sense prevails (possibly a term never heard in Sheffield Council chambers). I was dreading my return to work in the future as I use Shalesmoor daily.
  6. It's for a channel 5 documentary about the Dambusters according to the Star.
  7. ha ha I see Planner 1 hasn't got involved in this yet! Penistone Road cycle track into town is largely ignored by cyclists as they still tend to use the road rather than the cycle track. And what about the wasted thousands when they introduced the cycle track down near Costco narrowing the road and removing parking for the workers in the area. In the time it's been done I don't think I'm up to double figures yet with the cyclists I've seen that use it (I'm also a cyclist myself and advocate cycle lanes where possible and more importantly useful).
  8. Inner Ring Road Improvements - Status Update Amey commenced their final surfacing programme on Monday 9th March, 2020 and this will last for a period of up to 6 weeks. The surfacing will take place on weekdays between 19:00 and 06:30 and Sundays between 07:00 and 19:00 which reflects the many restrictions that have been put in place during the construction of this project. The first half of the period will concentrate in the Northern half of the project area and generally between Chatham Street and Savile Street before then continuing within the main Corporation Street section. Subject to any delays associated with staff resources on site arising from COVID-19, and normal caveats about weather conditions being favourable, the final surfacing should be completed by the end of April, 2020. The scheme will at that point be substantially complete. I hope this assists in responding to your constituent on this matter Best regards Tom Tom Finnegan-Smith Head of Strategic Transport, Sustainability and Infrastructure City Growth Sheffield City Council
  9. Well I would say Stannington and Lodge Moor are amongst the highest areas of Sheffield. Stannington is 650 feet above sea level.
  10. And has anyone seen any gritters yet? Certainly no sign of them at Stannington this morning and the Star seem to have posted that the they haven't bothered gritting! Council seem to be inept at anything to do with transport in this city unless it involves putting in useless cycle paths in places they're not required just to meet targets! (eg the one outside Costco)
  11. Plenty of people on the Stannington Facebook page happy with them. Don't know whre you live but if you're in S6 try joing the Stannington FB page
  12. The route has stayed pretty much the same other than where Old Penistone Rd diverts past the Toyota dealer and rejoins at the traffic lights near Hillfoot Bridge and also a couple of places towards Shalesmoor where you can see bits of the old road. It's basically the buildings that have changed and obviously the dual carriageway
  13. There's a post somewhere that a planning application has been submitted for a natural burial ground on High Riggs so not the Quaker burial ground but somewhere nearby.
  14. I may have to start using the Nunnery Square Park and Ride and just wondering if there is an exit onto Derek Dooley Way or do you have to come out onto Parkway in front of the Knowhow building.
  15. It was a leak from a generator that caused it and the company had engineers out the same day
  16. 1 They have not kept the same number of lanes open. As in my original post they have removed one of the filter lanes in either direction towards Saville street that has caused queuing traffic to impact both ways. Oh and you obviously don't use that route at busy times or you would have encountered the impact it has had. 2 Yes there will be a timescale and an impact but it has currently come to a halt and it is not a short timescale 3 In the great scheme of things this isn't that big a scheme Additionally it appears to have been very poorly thought out with the "U" turn for buses at the new traffic signals as they have great difficulty managing the turning circle.
  17. There's a plan shown on Sheffield council website somewhere (detailed on a previous thread) but I couldn't really make head or tail of what they're trying to achieve. What really is frustrating is they have ripped the road up on the filter towards Attercliffe and it looks like they're installing a cycle lane that will reduce the filter to one lane thus causing tailbacks at busy times. This has also meant they have reduced the filter on the opposite carriageway to one lane that causes tailbacks in the other direction and causes traffic to back up to Parkway every night. They are supposed to be trying to reduce pollution but by slowing everything down they are undoubtedly causing more pollution.
  18. Anyone else totally fed up with the lack of progress on these now. They seem to have gone on for ever and they now seem to have come to a halt. Add to that the ridiculous decision to cut the filters (both ways) towards Saville St and the stupid u turn traffic light it's total chaos. The roads themselves are in a right state with very poor lane markings, some new ones but they've left the old ones in place. New year rant over
  19. Flood warning for Meadowhall and Carrbrook https://flood-warning-information.service.gov.uk/target-area/123FWF629 Do they not remember 2007?
  20. Have you ever tried ringing the council and getting through to the correct department? I did know you check this forum and hoped you might pick it up, thanks for the response. Morning run to work was back to normal this morning
  21. What is so galling is that until he actually resigns or waits for the next election nobody not even parliament can do anything about it (or even appear to want to do anything about it). In the meantime the Hallam constituents continue to suffer and be unrepresented
  22. It appears the powers that be have been playing with the traffic signal timings again (or they've brought their children to work since the holidays have started and let them loose!) Anyway at about 7-15am I travel to work along Penistone Rd into town and although it could be busy it's now stupid at the junction with Albert Terrace Road and Rutland Rd. Traffic used to be halted on Penistone Rd at Albert terrace Rd leaving traffic coming out of Albert Terrace Rd and turning right a free run up to the red light at Rutland Rd before changing to green and allowing traffic to proceed and it all worked pretty well. What happens now is Rutland Rd changes to red and allows traffic on Penistone Rd to back up to Albert Terrace Rd before the lights there on Penistone Rd change to red and Albert Terrace Rd gets a green. Traffic from Albert Terrace can't then get across without stopping in the yellow box junction and causes a backlog on Penistone Rd and plenty of frayed tempers. On my way home at around 4pm I also travel down Parkway and onto Derek Dooley Way where they've been playing with the lights at the Wicker as well causing traffic to back up to Parkway where it used to be generally clear. Anyway moan over
