  1. This is so unhelpful. You tell us you are doing roadworks but it is totally unclear from this information and from your silly little maps on the website exactly what is happening. This is amateurish and half hearted and you can and should do better. It is not enough to warn, we need detailed and CLEAR PRECISE information. Can you be absolutely clear what roads you are closing on what dates. Is the A61 remaining open at any time. This is a very serious matter, being the main route into Sheffield and you make it sound like you are interrupting a school run. Travellers really want absolute precision, with map AND WRITTEN information. E.g. Halifax Road will be closed to all traffic on the following dates in the following places. This is the least you can do, considering you take our money and now you are causing major disruptions and as a paying consumer to Yorkshire Water and also paying road taxes I feel I should be FULLY informed. I am using this route tomorrow, in terrible weather conditions and I do not know what will be open, what the alternative routes are, how safe they will be or whether I need to consider abandoning this route altogether.
  2. We used Martin Brookes ten years ago. Thet were helpful and efficient. Not a problem in ten years. Hope I haven't spoken too soon.
  3. Shocking change in culture, not sure why they have become rude and surly. I used to love the old place, it was welcoming any time of day. Went in for a coffee, the three seats in the window were taken. A family friend without s drink took up the only other space. There were tables in the back but if we weren't having a meal we couldn't sit down. Tried again. Went for breakfast. No food apart from a Danish pastry without meat. They would not make a meat free sandwich. Never again. A customer lost, never to return and zi bet I am not the only one. I had high hopes. Plenty of other places wanting my custom.
  4. A real deli - would be a real bonus to me up here. Somewhere to buy decent fresh food, nice bread, good cheese etc. I am sure the meat eaters wouldn't mind an outlet for good meat too. However, if it is a sandwich shop/take away then there is no real need, as we are overwhelmed by food outlets. There are some good places in Crookes and I do like a range of outlets, just wish they were a little bit better quality.
  5. Oh that would have been interesting to know. I guess it could be anywhere in the City. Not sure it could be the Milestone or Silversmiths as they have already had the Ramsey treatment. London Club; Mama and Leonies; Bar and Grill... not sure how many more 'indies' there are in the centre.
  6. The Physio's on Glossop Road, beside the Hallamshire. They have bike and car parking.
  7. I had my first appointment at the Northern General today and the staff were amazing. I was lost and somebody took me mist of the way. The reception and nursing staff were very friendly and helpful and the consultant open and informative. The car park attendant came to check my car started, as I had left my lights on. I was dreading my appointment but it was made far better by the staff. Parking was stressful though.
  8. They have done a great job with the York, although short of space for drinking. The food is good value. They are planning something similar at the Broadfield. They have a really good range of drinks.
  9. Good luck finding your cat. There is also a sign for a missing tabby cat near Northfield Road, it is quite small and light grey, if anybody finds it let me know. I wonder if the fireworks have scared them and they are hiding for a while.
  10. Interesting place, amazing beer / ale selection and the wine choices is fairly good and very reasonably priced. I don't understand the moaning about prices earlier on this thread, it is definitely not expensive, especially for a bar in a city centre.
  11. Thanks for the tip, we visited today, what a lovely place you have, with lovely staff, the shop and the cafe are great. I had never been further than Forge Dam and was taken by how lovely Lower Bradfield is and really not far from the Sheffield centre. We had Jerusalem artichoke puree for lunch, which was delicious.
  12. Thanks for the link Sibon, it looks amazing. I can't wait to visit.
  13. Sounds interesting, who are you, where are you, do you sell game?
  14. It was an interesting bar, very dark, even at the front. There was too much moisture in the air, making the place very damp, it definitely needs a dehumidifier. I appreciated that it is very different to anything in Sheffield, which is needed. Trippets had become very down at heel, so something had to happen. I like what Thornbridge are doing to some of these run-down pubs and the new industrial dimension here, referencing some very important local Sheffield bands is very worthy. The wine lists were interesting and affordable. If they can beat the damp, it will be a lot better.
  15. I read OFM and I really do not like Silversmiths, food or service and will never go back there again. I can not believe the outcome, there are many, many, more deserving restaurants in the North of England. I wonder if the voting was a bit like the Robby Savage tweet, to vote for him on sports broadcasting, newcomer of the year....... It just shows, don't believe everything you read in the newspapers.
  16. The police have just disturbed 20 or so fighting men creating mayhem ouside of the Punchbowl, Crookes. Idiots. Catch them and sentence them like the rioters. We do not need these fools around.
  17. Really looking forward to this run, hoping to stay injury free for the next three weeks.
  18. The Italian Cafe (not sure of name) near the Cathedral Tram Stop, which is closing next week and moving to Norfolk Row across from the Catholic cathedral is fab. In Broomhill Remo makes amazing coffee and El Toro the tapas bar is good too. In Crookes, Tom Scotts.
  19. Notty has had a lick of paint and some new furniture, drink selection aimed at students.
  20. Mr Bens in Crookes have a web site and deliver via that.
  21. Barnsley College sixth Form section Thomas Rotherham Huddersfield New College Greenness College Huddersfield Grammar schools in Lincs Franklin College Grimsby Pontefract College There is a big 6th form near Scunthorpe which is commutable A few in Leeds too
  22. Just found the recommended businesses section on the forum which might be useful, but advice on what type of specialist is still needed.
