  1. There is a police sign up just before the approach to the Jet garage asking for information relating to a serious accident last night
  2. This post is utter tosh. 50p to park is a bargain, it can be refunded in some shops and guarantees parking. Prior to this scheme there were no spaces to park and it left no choice but to use the expensive and unsafe place above Spar. Inoften walk to Broomhill on a nice day. I rarely take a bus at £3 return per person as parking with two people is so cost effective. Other shopping areas in Sheffield have permits and charges, not just Broomhill. The charges compare favourably to other areas of the country, so Broomhill is no exception. If you fancy some shopping and free parking, with barely a space, please spend your pennies in a Crookes or Walkley. Three minutes walk from Broomhill is free parking.
  3. Nice informal dining. Ate during the day from the street food menu. Very tasty udon noodles. Very friendly staff. I look forward to trying the evening menu. But, can you leave the heating on for a few days, it was quite cold.
  4. Staff at Crookes Admiral have always been lovely.
  5. Thank you. Can't wait to try it. I love good thai food in a non formal environment. The environment in the three three on Ecclesall Road are too often empty , serving mediocre food that does not justify the prices charged, IMO. Hopefully a great addition to Broomhill eating.
  6. Thank you. Looking forward to trying it. I hope it is an improvement on the existing Thai restaurants.
  7. Thank you. Interesting link. New locks I think.
  8. I noticed the former Refresh cafe is being converted into a Thai restaurant. Does anybody have any further information such as the launch date, menu, prices, owners etc. it would be great if it was the Bahn Nah of yesteryear.
  9. What is lock bumping? I have never heard of it. I have up co doors and windows with standard locks fitted over ten years ago. I guess they may not be secure. Advice welcome.
  10. Where on South Road? Does it have better weekend opening times than Sharrowvale 7 Hills? In Germany, you can collect fresh bread each day for breakfast, in Sheffield it is available for supper . Any further info on location and opening times much appreciated as I need to buy bread this morning. PS if anyone linked to Chris Beech is reading. Would you consider opening beyond 6 a couple of days. I drive by most nights at 630 and I am unable to buy your goodies, sending me to CoOp.
  11. Wow. I can not believe I allowed myself to be swayed by some of the negative reviews on here and stayed away. After a few expensive and disappointing meals I thought Sheffield dining really couldn't get much worse. The restaurant is beautiful and very comfortable, with the ambience perfected by a live performance of a woman playing the guzheng (I think). The service was excellent, offering really good advice on the food. The food was very good, tasty starters without a lot of choice. The salt and pepper prawns were large, well spiced with a great sauce and lots of fresh chilli. The squid cake was great. The main course roasts was brilliantly cooked and the prawn curry was delicious, with Malaysian style spicing. We were so full we took food home for later. A great evening and a great meal. I will certainly be back soon.
  12. I had heard it was a refurbishment, but clearly not. As expected the hoarders moving custom to the corporate chain Costa has finished off another independent in Broomhill. There is a notice up requesting a drinks and music licence until 1am. Let's hope it is not another takeaway.
  13. We went last week and had a very disappointing experience. I am not sure I will return. It was obviously teething problems, but poor management, filling all tables in twenty minutes is insane. Service very slow. 20 minutes to order a drink. Longer for food. If you pop in for a drink, you are served straight away. Three groups walked out after long waits. The vegetarian dosa starter arrived as a main, with chicken. The main course fish curry was completely inedible. Very cheap, dry fish with a vinegary sauce. For £10 I would expect it to be at least palatable. Plates and serving plates low grade. Male toilet broken. They had painted over the old picture hooks without removing them. Overall totally disappointing, dreadful service and inedible food. I am saddened to write such a review, as I was really looking forward to this food.
  14. A very nice bar, very comfortable with a good range of drinks. I am pleased to see a return to the earlier days.
  15. Leeds is a tad too far for a Sunday run.
  16. I wish Park Runs could be on a Sunday, as I can't make a Saturday.
  17. Look for a website Babble and Speak, they may be able to help or advise.
  18. How did it go? I was away, I would have loved to run this.
  19. Excellent organisation from a runners perspective. A BIG thanks for all of the people cheering us on along the route, it would have been so much harder without your support.
  20. Thanks for those links. Fantastic chavtastic pics. Surely there should be a moral reason for an objection.
  21. Doing this and the BUPA GYR Sunday. Anybody else running Sunday?
  22. Don't try to attend the advertised class in Broomhall area. A friend took her daughter and they were told they were not welcome and ushered out because they were not native Spanish speakers. Not sure if this is legal, but certainly rude and unacceptable.
