  1. It's never too late to tell the general public what to do when approached by a missionary who is overstepping the mark.
  2. If you want to know more then look on the BYU website there are many articles on there about the LDS beliefs. I am going out just now but when I get back I will put some urls on for those of you who are interested.
  3. There is no reason for me to try to hide the fact of the garments we wear as several of our top leaders have mentioned them. As to the protection we may receive that is more down to our faith than an item of clothing. The garment is a reminder of the covenants which we take out when we are baptized. Regarding missionaries in the UK, we have British missionaries, American ones but also missionaries from countries which don't speak English so they have to learn our language as well.
  4. Lucifer was his name before he was cast out of heaven, now he is known as Satan.
  5. I'm quite happy to yack about this for ever but maybe termoz will do.
  6. Lucifer means bringer of light, light meaning knowledge. When Adam and Eve were in the garden Lucifer told them to eat from the tree of knowledge otherwise they would have been there still and you and I wouldn't have been born - simple really.
  7. Many people believe in God or Jesus but don't believe in Satan, I never understood that read the Bible especially the book of Revelation Lucifer/Satan gets a real explanation there.
  8. No it's not make believe, don't be fooled into thinking that Satan is a made-up or imaginary person. He is real and not to be messed with.
  9. Lucifer was an angel before this Earth was made and he wanted to save everybody who came here but he wanted all the glory so he was cast out of heaven and into the Earth now he is Satan and just a bit upset!!
  10. I have heard some crazy things about the LDS church in 43 years but some of these on here are worth storing for when I want a laugh!
  11. I am a Mormon and I used to live in Sheffield, in fact it was there that I joined the LDS church in 1968. I wouldn't change it for the world but sometimes the missionaries need a slap! He needs taking down a peg or two. That is not the way to approach people. My advice to anyone on this forum who is approached by a Mormon missionary and wants them to stop is to ask for them their name (it's probably on a badge on their coat anyway) and then report them to the nearest LDS chapel, there are three in Sheffield and they are all in the phone book.
  12. So many memories flooding back - I wish I was back in Sheffield in the sixties. I remember Dean Marshall and the Deputies, one of them had a Jazzmaster! Also remember Albert Hitchen, wasn't he known as Mr 10%? As for the Lathkildale Hotel - loved that place - played there when I was in Who's Who? The landlord had 2 or 3 gorgeous daughters!
  13. Any suggestions as to how I can get it to work? Maybe someone could actually put it on the Forum.
  14. Tried to open that link but it asks me to download something I already have on my pooter and then dosen't work anyway. Any suggestions?
  15. Something's coming.... No, it's gone. Get a book on Tarot and teach yourself!
  16. The resurrection of Jesus Christ, Savour of the world. Tough if you don't agree!!
  17. I don't remember the Lomas Hall, but that's not to say I didn't play there; memory is a fickle thing. Some of the places I did play were: Frecheville Community Centre with Dave Berry; we had a better reception than he did, The City Hall Ballroom and Oval Hall, The Classic Cinema, The Black Cat Club backing The Hollies, Birley Hotel, Heeley Club... The list goes on.
  18. If you are happy with your lot then what does it matter if you believe, don't believe or know one way or the other. Sleep peacefully everyone!
  19. I suppose a lot of guitarist from the sixties let their gear go for peanuts, I did. Sold my '61 strat for a pittance and my exwife was always trying to get me to sell stuff for food, food I ask you. Fortunately she left me and I now have a more understanding wife who is also a musician and singer so guitars come and stay these days.
  20. Tales from the sixties' bands in Sheffield: Who's Who? once had some publicity photographs done on the top of Cockaynes' roof. Not much in that but try it now with 'health and safety' laws! Page 55 of 'Not Like a Proper Job' by John Firminger and Martin Lilleker, shows yours truly sat in the window of Bradley's Music advertising name change from The Nocturnes to Who's Who? Come on, your turn now!
  21. This is a very old picture of me with a Futurama III: http://www.vintagehofner.co.uk/hofnerfs/futurama/fut.html Scroll down to picture of Mike Fisher aka Zeke.
  22. Dave Hopper of course, I was in Wilson Pecks, when they used to sell guitars, and in walked Dave and took a guitar off the wall and started to jam a 12 bars blues so I took a guitar and jammed with him for about an hour - you could do that in those days! When I told my mates in the band I was in they were dead jealous - 'You mean Dave Hopper, the Dave Hopper!' My street cred when up about ten notches!!
  23. Just checked in the book, 'Not Like a Proper Job', where there is a different picture of the above group with the following names: Dave Memmot Phil Crookes Rob Everson Graham Bower Don't know which is which but someone will surely come on and straighten us out!
  24. The Greatest Show on Earth should be renamed The Greatest Showoff on Earth. A long and winding read for nowt!
