No, i don,t think it is the 7.I lived there from being 14 until leaving in 1969 at 18. Block of maisonettes across from turnbull.In fact i remember the pub being built. I,m not bothered about being a stanningtoneer as my heart is in hillsborough. Thank you Raquel.Sorry Pattricia...

in the mid/late sixties when attending king edwards glossop rd,I used to use number 7 bus to town from near high rise flats. Always on that bus was a lovely looking girl on her way to work at,guessing, the mount,broomhill. She was older than me but we always said hello and smiled a lot at each other. i was a bit shy though ! She was from top end of stannington,unlike me from the estate.... I never got her name(possibly ann),but i often think of her even now. I wonder how her life panned out. Any clues ?

Would like to get in touch with my childhood best friend LESLEY HIRST from proctor place Hillsborough. We laughed our way through the fifties & early sixties together and although we have crossed paths since then,we haven't been in touch for years. HIRST of course was her maiden name. yesterday i was talking to Mark, the son of the late FRED PASS,the guy who wrote the incredible WEERZ MI DAD. He told me that 20,000 copies of that book had been sold since publication. i was shocked. That is an incredible figure for a "local" book. They broke the mould with that book! I doubt if i will come anywhere near that figure when the very last copy of A NICE TAIL END FROM MR.BURROWS leaves the shelves.I will have tried my hardest,but FRED was a true one off at the writing game !

On radio Sheffield yesterday talking to Rony Robinson about MR. BURROWS book. It was an enjoyable interview and Rony is a top guy. We talked of old cinemas,s6 in general, and people who had influenced me. hope you enjoyed it if you caught it on air...

On a similar subject,i will be having a book published in october,the title "A Nice Tail End From Mr. Burrows(it,s not rude) it,s about growing up in S6 in fifties and sixties ,and the influences of music,film, sport,war, politics and women. i have a signing in Waterstones,Orchard Square on November 4th for an hour. it will also be on Amazon. i,ve started a second book mainly about the things i dislike in the modern era. as a new author,my first book is due to be out and on sale in October.it,s title looks like being MR.BURROW,S TAIL END(it,s not rude!). it,s sort of semi autobiographical,and tells of my years between 1951-1969 (i was 18 in sept 1969). i grew up in hillsborough up to 14,and it tells of those years and the characters, the schools,the music,the films,the sport,the politics,and the families. i lived on proctor place next to Kinema,and film had a big influence on my imagination. it,s not just about me though. there is my wife and a love story there.Also it tells of how those times affected our generation and motivated us to change the world and times we lived in. i am optimistic for the book,and i hope you will look out for it when on sale.

the question of ian rose. "rosie" was my best mate at both malin bridge and kes. he was born august 1952. the last i knew of him he was headmaster at tideswell,derbys,junior school(think it,s a junior)

i still see mick hulley in morrisons with his wife elaine. he,s o.k. works for police at niagra grounds. he told me madge had passed away. i used to go out quite regularly with ray mogan and sue. they live at lodge moor,but i haven,t seen them for a while. believe it or not, i still have all those poems and stories we made up about ricey.that summer was too warm to work.no air-con then ! i daren,t even think about some of those girls........... speak soon.

i know malcolm, but not sure where he lives. he is friends of people in shiregreen,and is often there. i am a wednesdayite,and we used to have some good banter. seen him in asda at chaucer a couple of weeks ago,but didn,t get totalk to him.
