  1. Just a question about hillsborough car boot. I emailed earlier but haven't had a response. It says ticket only but you can pay on the day which I don't understand.. Can we turn up and buy a ticket when we get there? I don't want to turn up to be told it's full or I had to book.
  2. Does anyone know how big the one is at high storrs? I can't decide which one to go to
  3. Thanks for the advice, I will pass it all on. He did reply to the letter so that's a good thing. I think his main concern is that his current company will sack him for fear of reprisals if they don't.
  4. I need some advice for a friend please. He worked as an account for a company I shall call X. He was made redundant in March from his job but when he joined he signed a contract which said he couldn't work for a rival company in the same position for 6 months. He's just started a new job which is doing a similar job but at have a higher level, and hes received a solicitors letter from his old company saying his new company have to terminate his contract immediately. Can they do this when they made him redundant? It seems incredibly spitefull for the sake of a month!
  5. I'm saying get a second hand iPad mini rather than a £75 cheapo tablet that wouldn't be fine at all. It would never get used. Let's forget the whole is apple overpriced v android debate because you do pay a premium for an apple product. The point of this thread is advice for a child. The fact is the iPad has MUCH better educational apps compared to android. It's also true that apps are optimised better for the iPad than they are for android tablets. To make the point. In the last two years apple have released iOS devices with 3 different resolutions. This makes programming apps easier. There are more than 3 dozen different resolution android devices in probably a lot less than the last year. Sure angry birds might be optimised for some of the more popular tablets but the smaller apps won't be, and that includes the educational ones. If you want a tablet your child will continue to use then get an iPad mini off eBay, gumtree, even off of here. If that's too expensive then go for the nexus 7 or the tesco one, if you do though your child won't use it educationally very often at all. ---------- Post added 04-12-2013 at 19:19 ---------- Here you go. An android lover talking about how iPads are better for apps. http://m.techradar.com/news/phone-and-communications/mobile-phones/a-case-of-the-ex-it-s-me-again-apple-1201762
  6. Always go for an iPad. I'm a recent convert from other brands, bb and android. They cost more but it's all about ease of use which is essential! It's not just the tablet but the apps you can get and apple are in a different league to android when it comes to tablet apps. The problem android apps have is fragmentation, too many different specs of tablets to program for. A good buy would be a used iPad mini. They should be going quite cheap because of the new model but would be fantastic for a 6 year old. A lot of people will slag iPads off because its apple. There's no doubt android is a fantastic OS but when it comes to tablets, and children's apps in particular, they are well off the pace.
  7. Went to the aldi at the bottom of London rd and they have opened a discount store next door where they had a training centre! It seems to be all the old stock from their specials. I walked around with an open mouth at the prices.. If anyone has a baby they had loads of stuff. 3 Tomee tipee bowls for 79p! Its worth a look if your down that way
  8. I always think Sheffields roads look like they were planned, the planner took the plans home were their kids got hold of them and scribbled all over them. The builders thought it's not their problem and built the scribbles instead!! If you want to turn right at the top of city road it's a joke! And why can't the council sort out the traffic lights? If your on some main roads they actually encourage speeding so you don't get stuck at every traffic light!!
  9. right i have tried to make it clearer where i was parked. if you follow this link http://goo.gl/maps/vH7xg and click on the orange man i was parked on the right on the pavement just before it turns to grass and about a foot in from the road. Mouserat, if I was parked illegaly fair enough but I wasn't blocking anything, the pavement turns into a grass verge. cgksheff, there was double yellows on the road, does that mean you cant park on a verge? if so guess its my fault. im not trying to get away with it if its my fault, just wanting clarification.
  10. I took my boy to graves park the other day and parked on Hemsworth Road as I didnt have any change for the pay and display in the car park. I parked on the pavement just before it turns into grass. Its well after the crossing so I wasnt obstructing anything. The ticket says I was "Parked in a restricted street during prescribed hours". It was just before 2pm that I got the ticket but I drove back down today to search for any signs stating you couldn't park at particular times and there wasn't any. do I have a right to appeal? As far as im concerned the car was parked legally.
  11. so true! there was 3 of us watching saying how Leah should win but never considered voting! i blame middle aged woman.

  13. I loved going to the Riddimtion parties but age and responsibilities have caught up with me so I wanted to reminisce and listen to some of their mixtapes at home. I bought their album on itunes but they released loads of mixtapes for free. Does anyone have copies they could share with dropbox (or any other way), send me, or point me in the right direction for downloading?
  14. Hi, thanks for the replies and pm's. sorry if I have t replied back, it does t mean they haven't helped. I kicked the weed about a month ago which has definitely helped! There's still some days when I'm down and want it to switch off but Im not going back down that route. Had my 2nd psychology session today!!! At bloody last, the manager of the service rang me last week to apologise for it being so pants. I'm spending a lot of time with my son which helps cheer me up but I'm still struggling to deal with any stress and I get angry all the time over stupid things (like a pair of curtains!?). Things are improving but only in that I'm determined to get myself better although I think changing the medication I'm on has helped. I think I need councilling to talk through all of my issues so that's the next thing to ask the doc for.. I feel like I have picked myself up off the canvas and I'm ready to fight!
  15. Thanks I will try mind and thanks for the pm. Should have added I lost my job over all this too. Thanks froger, I do appreciate that.
