  1. Hi Folks, I am looking for a copy of Adobe photoshop elements 2.0 I have it installed on my laptop, but my PC has blown up and had to be replaced and I cannot recover it. I have also misplaced my master cd, so I am a little stuck. I know it is an old version, but it is one I am comfortable using. If anyone has an old unwanted copy, I would be very appreciative, failing that it if is for sale let me know how much. Cheers Steven
  2. Is the speed limit enforced on the snake, ie speed cameras or regular patrols?
  3. Never seen one in Sheffield, but over here a couple of years ago a workman was clearing the garden of a house near me when I heard a huge scream. We all ran to see what was the matter only to be confronted by a 7 foot poisonous Montpellier snake rearing up and hissing in a cobra fashion. We all ran home as quickly as we had run down to see. I have now got used to seeing snakes, especially early in the morning in the summer when they warm up on the tarmac on the roads, you just give them a wide birth. Its the spiders that I cannot get used to. I have never been a fan and hated UK house spiders when they ran across the carpet, but over here you have tarantulas and black widows to contend with. The good news is that they never come in the houses even though doors and windows are left open all the time. Strangely the most dangerous creature over here is prevalent at the moment. It is called the processional Easter caterpillar. The walk round in long processions and live in cyprus and pine trees. If you eve get them on your property the only safe way of getting rid of them is dropping them in a container of fuel and setting it alight. The danger is with their hair which they release when alarmed; it can kill dogs babies and the old. Killer caterpillars eh..... never tell you about these in the holiday brochures do they?
  4. Hi, Over here in Spain it gets bloomin cold in the winter and the houses are designed to stay cool, not retain heat. All heating here is electric with the exception of gas bottles. There was a Royal decree stating that the electric companies could bill monthly from December onwards. Since then we are estimated one month and read the following. We are getting massive bills one month and smaller then next. This can be a problem if you are on a tight budget, but the real con is that you are charged a certain amount for the first number of Kw used but the rate increases if you use more. Because on one of the bills you have really high consumption, you end up paying a much higher rate than you would have normally. It has been calculated that if you compare the new bills to the old bills you are paying 15% more on the new billing method. Cheeky eh? Don't think that this will not effect you over in Sheffield as the Spanish national power company Iberdrola owns Scottish power amongst others, so beware that this could be tactic employed in the future as a sneaky way of upping income without raising prices.
  5. I moved away from Sheffield nearly 3 years ago now and having moved when all was good in the world(ish) I was wondering what the mood was like now. Although I can receive UK TV over here in Spain, all you get on the news is doom and gloom. Recession, job cuts, no borrowing, bank collapses etc. Are people still spending, are the supermarkets still full, the roads busy, is everyone in fear for their jobs? I presume that it is not much better here, other than the sun is shining.
  6. Hi Folks, Greetings from a sunny Spain, from an ex Sheffield resident. I am trying to find out how to get a gmail account as I have been having problems with yahoo mail. I understand that you need an invite, so could any kind person out there please let me have one if they have a free one. Also does anyone have any feedback on Gmail and how good.bad it really is? Cheers.
  7. There was a report on TV the other evening about bumper amounts of large spiders this year. Aparantly the long dry summer this year is good for spiders and the abundance of food has kept the numbers up, so we can expect lots of spiders this autumn.
  8. Hi, I hope somebody can help. I am looking for a "sofa saver" for a 3 seat sofa. These are the devices that you put under the cushions on your sofa that stop the seats sagging. I have tried ebay, amazon, google, argos etc and all the online companies want 3-4 weeks for delivery. I was wondering if anyone has seen them for sale in Sheffield in any of the shops. Your help is appreciated.
  9. Hi, Does anyone know of a company who will recharge the aircon on my car in Sheffield. The car is an Audi A6, but I do not want to pay dealer prices. Cheers
  10. I sadly will be leaving this great city in the next month or two and moving to Sunny Spain. I was fortunate enough to invest in propert in S10 and with the equity I now have can afford to up sticks and swap a 3 bed semi for a 3 bed 2 bath detached house surrounded by vines and mountains 20 mins from the beach. One thing you will never hear me say though is how glad I am to leave the UK and look at the state of the country, because I truly love the UK and especially Sheffield . Having come to Sheffield some 17 years ago with work having travelled extensively around the country, I can honestly say I have never met such kind and friendly people and it is only the oppurtunity of a lifetime that is dragging me away. From my 1st night in Sheffield when I was taken to the Limit Club on West Street I have never looked back. The funny thing now is when people ask me where are you going on holiday I will be able to say with a big smile on my face "SHEFFIELD" Cheers all
  11. Cheers, Supermarket boxes are not strong enough and cannot be stacked very high.
  12. Cheers, I appreciate that. The panic now begins as I try and pack up my house, sell my business, sell my car etc etc etc.
  13. Hola All, The call of 300 days of sunshine a year has finally tempted me into accepting a permanent full time job in sunny Spain. The house sold this weekend and I look to be moving in the next 8 weeks, cash buyer no chain..... I am looking for a good international removals company. I intend leaving/selling most of my clobber and buying new abroad but there will still be the inevitable tons of boxes, so does anyone have any recommendations. I have started packing, however I will need boxes and do not want to pay the extortionate prices, does anyone know of a source of cheap boxes. Thanks for your help, Gracias Steve
