Put all the facts and figures in an email to the customer services dept. If you dont get a satisfatory response there is an ombudsman you can get involved. Personally I wouldnt pay the bill as you'll probably find that N Powers takes less interest in your problem once they have they have been paid. You could offer to pay a sum in line with your previous usage until the matter is sirted.

Sounds like someone else is wired up to your meter too. This happened in our office after some work was done to the adjacent office. Took ages to pursuade the elec company to come and see why our bills had doubled overnight.
