  1. ALL CHARGES DROPPED against 78-year-old man who stabbed burglar

Police have announced that a 78-year-old man who stabbed a burglar in London will face no further action.

There’s not much we can say about this other than the fact that we are delighted that common sense has prevailed on this occasion.

There has been an outpouring of support for Richard Osborn-Brooks ever since the news became public a few days ago.

    The Sun is reporting:

A PENSIONER arrested after a serial burglar was stabbed to death in his home will face no further action.

Henry Vincent, 38, died after suffering a stab wound during the botched burglary on 78-year-old Richard Osborn-Brooks’ home in South East London.

Police today confirmed the OAP would face no further action after he was arrested on suspicion of murder on Wednesday.

The Sun revealed Vincent is a career criminal who targets elderly people – carrying out a spate of break-ins on the homes of vulnerable victims.

Vincent was arrested and still under investigation over a distraction burglary in which a box of jewellery was stolen from a man in his 70s last November.

He was named by Kent cops in connection with that crime along with an accomplice who was also allegedly with him when he broke into the home of retired RAC worker Mr Osborn-Brooks.

intresting piece on face book -

  2. I don't have a problem with the bloke being arrested, but I do have qualms about a 78 year old spending so long in police custody, they are not geared for long stay prisoners, it will be like solitary confinement - He should be bailed as others have been.

If there is a fear for his safety then the police should take appropriate action like moving him/them to a safe area, not take the cheap option and keep him in the cells.

  3. UNBELIEVABLE

A pensioner has been arrested after a suspected burglar was killed during a violent tussle at his home.

The 78-year-old was held on suspicion of murder after the 38-year-old died of his wounds in hospital in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Police said the struggle broke out after the pensioner had found two men inside his home in South Park, Hither Green, south London shortly after midnight.

One suspect, armed with a screwdriver, forced the home-owner into his kitchen when he discovered them, while his accomplice went upstairs.

Detectives believe a struggle ensued between "one of the males and the home-owner" and the 38-year-old intruder was stabbed in the upper body.

He was later found collapsed in nearby Further Green Road by paramedics from London Ambulance Service, who took him to a central London hospital where he died at 3.37am. Police were unable to confirm whether the suspect had been stabbed with the screwdriver.

In a statement Scotland Yard said: “At 00:45hrs on Wednesday, 4 April, police were called by a home owner to reports of a burglary in progress at an address in South Park Crescent, Hither Green SE6, and a man injured.

“The 78-year-old resident found two males inside the address. A struggle ensued between one of the males and the home owner. The man, aged 37, sustained a stab wound to the upper body.”

The home owner suffered bruising to his arms and his injuries are not life threatening.

Police arrested him on suspicion of grievous bodily harm before then arresting him on suspicion of murder.

He was taken to a south London police station where he remains at this time.

The second suspect in the burglary fled the scene prior to police arrival and and is now being hunted by the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command.

A resident living in the street where the incident took place said: "I moved here because I thought it was a safe, nice, pleasant area but this is shocking."

A neighbour who has lived in the area for 10 years added: "We've heard of break ins over the years, but nothing like this."

  4. At the time of apartheid wasn't it the rule that a south African woman had to do as their husband told them, and woe betide them if they didn't?

Would it of been possible for Nelson to stop his wife's actions even from behind bars?

Could Nelson have been directing his wife's actions from prison?

playing devils advocate now, but food for thought.

  5. South African anti-apartheid campaigner Winnie Madikizela-Mandela has died aged 81, her personal assistant says.

Winnie Madikizela-Mandela was the former wife of South Africa's first black president, Nelson Mandela.

The couple - famously pictured hand-in-hand as Mr Mandela walked free from prison after 27 years - were a symbol of the anti-apartheid struggle for nearly three decades.

  6. Two possible solutions;

    - Google don't currently have the right to stream it to the U.K; the licensing agreements between streaming companies and copyright holders is quite fluid and can change a lot over time

    - Google doesn't think you are in the UK and your IP address is saying you an in Belgium or something. It happens sometimes. Try turning the router off for 5 minutes and reconnecting to get a different IP. Of course if you have a static IP, then that's not going to solve that.

I do have a VPN, but it shouldn't apply to google home? should it, i very rarely use it on the computer,

played the record before, it's so old i don't think copyright comes in to it

  7. I pay £9.99 a month for google music, i have in the past asked google home to play "freight train" with no problem, i asked for it tonight and it replied " out of your area" anybody know what it's talking about?

I have no restriction on what can be played.

It does seem easy on "you tube" 55 seconds. not sure about that. I would advise that you post this in the main section of this thread (Below) as more people are likely to read it. If you live close to S9 I'm prepared to help you if no one else steps up, I don't drive and am disabled myself.

  10. Well it certainly seems like good news.

However, as some guy on TV said, let's see what's in the small print before we get too excited.

It is still below inflation at the current rate, for those that will only get the 6.5%, and they have to wait 3 years. I personally think this it's a bad deal.

compared to recent years our inflation rate is low, so if/when inflation rises what have they got?

  11. I reported our sign had come off with the wind, November time I think, within three weeks they were there putting up a new sign, that's not bad in my book.

    ---------- Post added 17-03-2018 at 20:43 ----------

Slag lane nr Handley has had its sign removed that often the council refuse to put a new one up.

Theirs a place just outside Gloucester/Stroud called " Paradise " - they have given up on replacing the sign " Welcome to Paradise "

  12. If they have any sense, you'll have to ask for the key.

I like the idea that Lidl has taken the trouble to put Toilets in this (and others, I hope) shop, to me it shows respect for it's customers needs, make no mistake it will take a few quid to maintain - So thumbs up for being advanced enough to take the risk, lets hope the customers treat it with respect or it will close, it's easy to lock the doors.
