  2. A sheltered housing complex was built in Gloucester specifically for the Muslim community called "Apna Ghar " it stood unused for months without residents until they opened it up to all, it then very quickly filled up (my mother being one), but as far as I know not one Muslim ever lived there. Taking care of your own seems to be instilled in the Muslim psyche, and fair play to that

  11. The cost of school uniforms being as high as it it, i'm surprised you don't sort it and sell it to prospective pupils who perhaps can't afford NEW.
  12. It's the same in Sheffield, it would be nice if the council had a Disabled/OAP help line which was manned purely by Humans who could put you through to the right department without all the waiting, the press 1 press 2 press3 ETC. I'm not saying to jump the queue, but just to put us in the right queue.
  13. It would seem the answer is no, Could you ask a Hospice if they have a patient that would benefit from it. I don't think this could be done over the phone though,
  14. Not good news I fear. Warning: you must go to your assessment You must go to your assessment otherwise your PIP claim will be rejected and you’ll have to start the application process all over again. Contact your assessment provider straight away if you can’t make your appointment or if you’ve already missed it. If you’ve a good reason for not going they may reschedule it. The number to contact is on your appointment letter. There are no rules on what is a good reason for missing an assessment but the DWP should take into account your health and things that may affect you like a family bereavement. If your PIP claim is rejected because you missed your assessment, you can ask the DWP to change this decision. You must have been given at least 7 days’ written notice of the assessment date (unless you agreed to a shorter notice period). This is interesting, but not really backed up by Law?..........https://www.rightsnet.org.uk/forums/viewthread/4896/ But appeal against the decision ASAP.
  15. Yes If you are getting Income Support, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance or income-related Employment and Support Allowance, you will automatically be within the income and capital limits for Housing Benefit and you will qualify for the maximum amount. If you are on Pension Credit and you get the guarantee credit (whether on its own or with the savings credit), you will also automatically get the maximum amount of Housing Benefit. If you get the savings credit only, you may qualify for Housing Benefit but it will depend on your income and savings. The local authority will use the Pension Service figures for income and savings to assess whether you can get Housing Benefit. If you or your partner have more than £16,000 in capital, you will not get any Housing Benefit, unless you are getting the guarantee credit part of Pension Credit.
  16. Trauma and PTSD Counseling in Sheffield https://www.psychologytoday.com/gb/counselling/trauma-and-ptsd/eng/sheffield Is this any good, sorry if it's not.
  17. The short answer is YES you can claim Carer's Allowance. However it will alter the amount of ESA you receive. The carer premium is an extra amount of money included in the calculation of Income Support, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, income-related Employment and Support Allowance, Housing Benefit, and Council Tax Reduction. It could also affect the money the disabled person gets if it's Income related (Means tested). The benefits of the person you are looking after If you claim Carer’s Allowance the disability benefit of the person you are looking after will not be affected; and if they are getting a State Pension this will not be affected either However, if the person you are looking after is receiving means-tested benefits, your claim for Carer’s Allowance could affect how much they get. If they are receiving the severe disability premium (or severe disability addition in Pension Credit) as part of their means-tested benefits, they will lose this if you are paid Carer’s Allowance. The severe disability premium (or severe disability addition in Pension Credit) is £64.30 a week and might be included in the means-tested benefits of the person you are looking after if they meet all of the following conditions: They receive a qualifying disability benefit (the middle or the higher rate of the care component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA); the daily living component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP) (at either rate); Attendance Allowance (at either rate) or Constant Attendance Allowance paid with the Industrial Injuries or War Pensions schemes; or Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)). They live alone (there are some exceptions to this - such as if they live with other people who also receive a qualifying disability benefit they will all count as living alone). No one is being paid Carer’s Allowance or the carer element of Universal Credit for looking after them: - If you aren’t getting Universal Credit and just receive the ‘underlying entitlement’ to Carer’s Allowance then the person you are looking after will not lose their severe disability premium (or addition). However if you are getting Universal Credit and aren’t being paid Carer’s Allowance but get the carer element in your Universal Credit award then the person you are looking after will lose their severe disability premium (or addition) Example Sarah and Joe have been friends for many years. Sarah lives alone and receives the standard rate of the daily living component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP). They live in England. She also receives income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA). Because she receives a qualifying disability benefit (the standard rate of the daily living component of PIP), lives alone, and no one is currently being paid Carer’s Allowance for looking after her, Sarah gets the severe disability premium included in her income-related ESA award. This is worth an extra £64.30 a week. Joe looks after Sarah. If Joe claimed Carer’s Allowance and was paid this for looking after Sarah, he could be £64.60 a week better off (although he might not be better off by this much if he is also receiving a means tested benefit - see above). However, Sarah would lose the severe disability premium in her income-related ESA award, and so she would be worse off by £64.30 a week. You should therefore think carefully about how a claim for Carer’s Allowance may affect the benefits of the person you are looking after.
  18. If you have a Disability pass before your 65, Why is it taken away from you and replaced with a OAP pass?
  19. I did read somewhere that these trains were/are planned for the North East as well, but can't find a link. Will the NORTH ever get NEW rolling stock? as long as I can remember we've had the cast offs from down south. Vivarail is converting District Line stock into diesel trains and plans to lease the renovated ‘D-Trains’ to new operators. Refurbished London Tube trains are the solution to Greater Manchester’s problem of too few trains and over-crowded carriages, says the engineer transforming them so they could run on the region’s rail routes. Now these are used TUBE TRAINS running 24 hrs a day 7 days a week, getting one hell of a hammering no longer fit for purpose so they sell them to us up North. https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/-london-tube-trains-manchester-look-10060857 'New' trains made of old London Underground carriages Decades-old former London Underground carriages are being refurbished and turned into trains to be used elsewhere in the country. London Northwestern Railway's Bedford to Bletchley line will be the first to introduce the carriages from December. They are being refurbished with new seating, toilets, plug sockets and wi-fi. These carriages are said to be cheaper and quicker to introduce than new ones, which can take three years to arrive once ordered. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-44485462/new-trains-made-of-old-london-underground-carriages
  20. Your eligibility You must earn no more than £120 a week after tax and expenses. Expenses can include: 50% of your pension contributions some of the costs of caring for your children or the disabled person while you’re at work All of the following must also apply: you’re 16 or over you spend at least 35 hours a week caring for someone you’ve been in England, Scotland or Wales for at least 2 of the last 3 years (this doesn’t apply if you’re a refugee or have humanitarian protection status) you normally live in England, Scotland or Wales, or you live abroad as a member of the armed forces you’re not in full-time education you’re not studying for 21 hours a week or more you’re not subject to immigration control You might still be eligible if you’re moving to or already living in another EEA country or Switzerland. You might be eligible for Carer’s Credit if you’re not eligible for Carer’s Allowance. State Pensions While there is no upper age limit for claiming Carer’s Allowance, payment of Carer’s Allowance usually stops when you reach retirement age because your State Pension will be paid instead (unless your State Pension is less than the amount of Carer’s Allowance, in which case you could continue to be paid a small amount of Carer’s Allowance). This is because of the ‘overlapping benefits’ rules. However, you may still be able to get some extra money in recognition of your caring role, because you can still have an ‘underlying entitlement’ to Carer’s Allowance. It is therefore worth getting a benefit check if you are about to get your State Pension and want to know whether this ‘underlying entitlement’ will financially benefit you, or if you are already getting your State Pension and want to know whether it is worth claiming this ‘underlying entitlement’ to Carer’s Allowance.
  21. Some say she jumped after a row with her boyfriend, Captain called her " the jumper" by mistake.
  22. I've used a lot of the cheap options, Kemp, Asda etc and I'm quite happy with all of them, In and out in 15 - 20 minutes all done, Then my Company paid for me to have an eye test, what a difference, 45+ minutes more or less, talk about being thorough. The truth of the Question is this - You only have one pair of eyes, do you want to be a number or a valued customer, if the latter i'd recommend you pay a reputable company.
  23. How long does it take? The DWP does not have a deadline for doing the Mandatory Reconsideration. Some reconsiderations take 2 weeks, some take several months. If you have not received your Mandatory Reconsideration Notice, it is a good idea to call the DWP after: 2 weeks to check they have logged your Mandatory Reconsideration 8 weeks to check how much longer it will take 12 weeks to chase again If you are not happy with how long a Mandatory Reconsideration is taking, you may want to complain or tell your MP. https://www.turn2us.org.uk/Benefit-guides/Challenging-a-Personal-Independence-Payment-decisi/Get-Mandatory-Reconsideration-Notice This is also backed up by the CAB. .. Getting your mandatory reconsideration result The DWP doesn’t have to make the decision within a specific timescale and sometimes it can take several months to get your decision letter - this letter is called a ‘mandatory reconsideration notice’. You’ll be sent 2 copies - you’ll need to send 1 off if you need to go to the next stage of appeal. https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/sick-or-disabled-people-and-carers/pip/appeals/mandatory-reconsideration/
  24. It used to be Lidl for me, but i'm sick of going in there and finding only a 2 day date on their bread, plus there trying to force everyone to use the self scan tills (lower manor) So from today it will be Asda or Tesco's. As a single bloke I can spend £80.00 a week in Lidl with Wine, Never no more. Anyone else noticed their bread is crap.?
  25. True, but it's 2018 and we have food banks, not only in the Third World but here in the UNITED KINGDOM. Asda has recently started putting all their lovely Veg in PLASTIC BAGS.
