What do people reckon the best roads in Sheffield are for the actual road surfacing? Use the other thread to bash Amey and the Council. Lets use this one to be more positive. Woolley Wood bottom (Ecclesfield Rd)

And even when they are surfaced there are still reasons to grumble....... Perhaps the "odd reason" is because it was considered to be one of the worst roads in Sheffield?

We have a Balaclava Road already! In the Philadelphia area of the City.

I go in after every game. It no more busy than any other city centre pub and certainly no madhouse. Just don't turn up in blue and white stripes.

Many thanks for all your quick responses!! I want to leave the loo where it is; knock out the dividing wall between kitchen and porch / coal house; raise the floor level of the porch area. But can the RSJ sit directly on the dividing wall between kitchen and living room or does it need a brick pillar leaving in? I don't want the pillar and I was hoping that if somebody has done this before then I won't have to employ a structural eng for calculations. I won't be doing this myself and need a builder. House is Freehold BTW.

Has anyone knocked these three rooms into one? Mine is the end house of a four block and before I get a structural engineer and/or builder involved I wonder if this has been done before?? Any advice would be welcomed!

The Luftwaffe, post 1960 modernisation, Sheffield City Council, Thatcher's industrial revolution and now the University. They have all played their part in Sheffield's lack of heritage. Jessops is simply the latest chapter but all more disappointing because it was Grade II listed and sets a dangerous precedent for any developer who wants to tickle our Planning Committee's tummy. But we can always go and stare at some stone circles instead eh?

Our next get together / training session is on Wednesday 7th August. This will be in Endcliffe Park, starting at 7pm, for around an hour. Everyone is welcome, so please come along.

We aren't geared to do that because we keep bulldozing our heritage. The Uni are destroying a Grade 2 listed building and being allowed to replace it with something completely out of character with the rest of the area.

What number Loxley Rd do you live at and why is it Amey's fault that the water main (almost 100 years old) keeps bursting? And it isn't Amey who repair the main but Yorks Water, who also turn it off in the middle of the night to do repairs. Could you also post some dates that back up your constant reference to the works taking weeks? I think they have done a great job, as do many others who live and work alongside Loxley Rd.

First pre-season get together is Sunday 21st July in Endcliffe Park. 2pm start. Everyone is welcome!

Be careful when you Google "hardcore".................. Road construction typically comprises Sub-base / Base Course / Binder Course / Surface Course. Googling will be a bit less messy that way! And the majority of Amey's resurfacing is Binder & Surface Course, perfectly ok for the most of the City's road network.

A few more details to tempt you with: We are a Charter Standard Club. Annual fees are £20!! (A fraction of what some clubs charge). We play on the fields adjacent the Cricket Inn pub. We will be getting back together on the 7th of August for training (in Totley) before the season starts again in September. Current age range is 17 to below 30 (!) but we will happily welcome ladies of any age above 16. I'll add a Facebook link when my own daughter sorts the IT aspects of this out! Found at the bus stop outside the Hallamshire Tennis Club on Friday 17th May, 23.30hrs. Only things inside are a Beanie hat and a tie. If you can describe these two items then I will gladly pass them on. Otherwise they will be handed in to SY Police next week (already reported to them).

All the buses are diverted around the closed area. 4 days to go from the top of Stannington to the bottom. That is impressive. Back up to the top tomorrow to start the final layer. And all done by next Friday.
