  1. Crackle, crackle tap tap..." Can I have the best of order please for tonight's main Artiste" screech, whistle tap tap " bloody contraption" Those were the days eh? LOL
  2. The only Berni inn , I remember, was the one that used to be the Rotherham House, ,between Castlegate and the market. If that is the one apparently it then became the Market. However that was after I left the country, but I have read that on here. Can't remember the topic heading though.
  3. The Train was a great film, I remember seeing it at the cinema in the early 60's. Never missed a Burt Lancaster film in the 50's and 60's. RIP to the dear lady.
  4. Mae West said it best" I've been rich and I've been poor, believe me, rich is better" I would like to add, I am not rich , by any stretch. lol
  5. Over here the server can be charged for selling alcohol to anyone who appears the "worse for wear". So I assume the owner would be charged too. Now, whether a private lawsuit would work well, would be a matter of what damage was done to or by the drunk in question.
  6. ---------- Post added 30-07-2017 at 14:34 ---------- That's a pretty short post for you, are you getting low on ink?
  7. Magic Roundabout? lol:bigsmile: ---------- Post added 30-07-2017 at 00:36 ---------- :hihi: I knew didn't I ? LOL
  8. Mobile phone? Nobody on our street had a land line phone in 1957. There was only one house that had a telly
  9. Remember that show Hi De Hi, before I left England. I think the late Paul Shane, the Sheffield comedian was in it. Unless you are talking about a new series. Was she the one who said "good morning campaires" over the tannoy?
  10. Now I know what it is, I would put in all the Kardashians, hair dye and all and Caitlyn Jenner too, just to keep the' family' intact.
  11. Yeah me too lol Funny enough my local pub is called Orwell's and it opened in 1984, and is across the street from where I live.
  12. Twist to this story, his 22 year old son died from pain killer overdose 6 months ago . It is believed they were estranged . Very sad RIP to both.
  13. Why go to all that trouble when we have the internet? Saw the film, by the way, but that was over60 years ago and my attention span at 12 years old didn't pick it all up. In fact it bored me to tears.
  14. I know for a fact, cops over here catch a lot of pedophiles and drug dealers over here via the internet by posing as a vulnerable kid or a junky. However there is a certain way to do it, to avoid a defence of entrapment by the perpetrators.
  15. Ok then, thanks. Just not heard it put that way before. However when society becomes more tolerant, will some of those things be allowed to 'come out'?
  16. Sorry if I seem a bit thick, but what is a room101?
  17. Mal is quoted a few times in the book 'Not Like A Proper Job' In fact it was something his dad said to him when he first started out, that inspired the title of the book, he told him that playing in a band wasn't a real job and that he should get a proper one lol There was a CD given with that book, which was made up of demos and outtakes from Sheffield bands from that era. One of the tracks is 'Whole Lotta Shakin' by Pete Fender and The Strollers, not sure if Mal was still with them then, however.
  18. My wife yelling "yer dinner's on the table"
  19. What a shame, I knew Mal in his mid teens when he played bass for Pete Fender and the Strollers. I didn't go to Swallownest secondary school myseif but all my mates did and that is where they started the group. There were lots of us at that time into wanting trying to get groups going and I used to get up and give my Elvis routine whenever they were playing at a dance or bar where I happened to be. I knew all the lads in the band including Mal and the also deceased Trefor Jones( Pete Fender) who died so tragically in the 60's in a car accident, at only 22. RIP Mal hope you and Fender are jamming already up yonder. Rest easy old friend.
  20. Here in Ontario your address comes into the equation in a big way. Before I gave up driving due to vision problems, I used to put my car in my daughter's name as she lives in a low populated rural area and is a paramedic. I live in a big city with a population of close to 5 million. The difference in premiums was staggering. However I only did this after retirement and only used the car for holidays and long trips etc., as we live next door to the subway/bus terminal. There are so many crazy drivers over here , no wonder insurance is so high, especially in densely populated areas.
  21. Ah now you tell us , no wonder the guru is so happy and enjoying his retirement;) By the way, did you stay up late making that lot up? LOL
  22. Sure, if you are looking for somewhere to take your scrap and you can get it through customs lol
  23. Niagara Falls, Ontario. is right up there.
  24. Had there been any fish there in the 50's we would have had them in our living room LOL. We lived on South View Terrace and often got the flood water in the house.
