  1. Wow this takes me back a bit....I remember John Cooper ....White haired fella with a limp always wore a blue boiler suit. He used to come and collect Number Plates from us ...I used to work at Marston Radiators down Rockingham Street back in the mid to late 70s
  2. Interesting to read this thread, I spent the first 7 years of my life living and growing up on Hicks St before it was all demolished around 66 or 67. Can remember an old police house/station corner of Hicks st & Burton St also remember a corner shop on corner of hicks st and percy st (i think) and a great chippie on Bury st used to hang about there til the owners gave us a free bag of scraps......some great memories of living around there. Sorry Bingley st not Bury st ?
  3. Why Did They Demolish So Much Of Attercliffe In The 1980s? Because it was a bit of a sh*thole thats why.
  4. Ahh the good old days,... I left in 75/76 Remember Robbo the head,..my tutor was Mr Arch,...Staley, Dunford, Styan, Gus Miller and a lovely lady maths teacher who I can't remember her name Happy days
  5. I remember the family in the early 70's when i was a marine cadet, the earl would allow us to camp on his land and we were allowed to learn rock climbing on the crags. It was fun trying to chat up the earls pretty daughters who if i remember were far too posh for us ruffians :-)
  6. My mate was a bin man for years and he told me the only reason they run about like ants and empty bins is to finish early,. its simply when the round is done its home time.
  7. Sheffield will always return Labour to council power its the only thing they consistently do.......ie vote Labour. Lets not forget what happened on 13th December 2007 when that idiot Gordon Brown did irreversible damage to this country. You reap what you sow.
  8. Could I ask why the UKIP thread was closed please ?
  9. My Dads family owned or run a shop on douglas rd in the 50s. I am told they bought it with pools winnings and I think it was a grocery shop ?
  10. Used to visit the Brown Bear and the Roebuck great pubs
  11. Red Star.....that brings back memories of stood in the parcel office at Midland station,....you had to take a packed lunch when yo went there....terrible service. Must say though we have probably gone through most of the carriers of today and they are all as bad as each other
  12. I remember Jimmy Saville coming to Longley after opening the new Tesco......makes you wonder if he had a more sinister reason to get amongst the kids ?
