  1. I started at British Steel shepcote lane in1968 in the fabrication shop and worked there until it closed in 1985, then moved to the bar mill. The mill eventually closed down and a printing works occupies the site now. Happy days sad to see it all close down.
  2. Just been scrolling thru Whitby Rd school I remember Terry Tennant he was in my class and his sister Valerie was in my wife's class.
  3. HI Ian you will probably remember albert tongue George pyne frank the blacksmith. I left in 1964 the engineers from 1951were W Richardson, G Lee, Gratton and Hopkinson
  4. I remember the tank grave yard it was on the old tinsley park colliery site which eventually became tinsley park steelworks
  5. I started at handsworth nunnery on my 15th birthday 1st jan 1951 tommy walker had a serious accident almost losing his leg but eventually got back to work. My best mate was Eric Richardson who went on to be a group engineer
  6. I remember the name Chatterton but I believe he was in the class above me and I can't put a face to his name ---------- Post added 09-03-2014 at 20:21 ---------- My wife Irene Allinson went to WR and left in 54 maybe someone out there remembers her.
  7. Norman Sunderland was best man at my wedding. he's still alive and kicking spoke to him last week by phone
  8. been reading memories of WR I started in infants 1941 Kieth Ellis was in my class remember playing football with him in high hazels park the teachers then were gollege mawson rodgers (music teacher) we nick named him rimsky. allen was headteacher and was replaced by saxon. I lived in Irving St. les hobson roy palmer norman sunderland all lived locally.
