  1. Got to agree with Dutch, the new trams rattle and are very noisy. They may have bright LED lights in the carriages but they feel cheap, I can't see these units lasting 10 years! Cheap Spanish rubbish but what can we expect from such a miserly budget, they are worse than the old T-68's that used to run on Manchester Metrolink back in the 1990's. We needed something of real quality like the current rolling stock on Manchester's Metrolink such as the M-5000's with excellent German engineering plus they can be used as double units. Not that Supertram has anywhere near the passenger numbers, network or investment like our bigger city cousins across the Snake Pass.
  2. Off to watch the boys on Saturday play Man Utd, can anyone recommend any good bars before the match? I have heard that the Northern Quarter is good, like New York Warehouse bars ? Amy good areas or watering holes would be good. We are not wearing colours so should fit in most areas ?
  3. Thanks guys, I have rented a lovely semi detached house in the Bury area of Manchester, countryside location and only 20 mins for a tram into the city centre and there is a bus stop 10 mins walk away that goes straight into the city centre, driving does not need to be an option here, the transport links are fab and a night bus everyday of the week from the city centre back to Bury. 24 hour party people indeed! Gonna mis you Sheffield, will be back soon in the mean time bring on the Manchester lifestyle !
  4. Hi, I'm going to be moving to Manchester for about a year with a new job, the job is based in the city centre - Co-ops New Head Office, so I'm looking for somewhere to rent. I have looked at both the north and the south of the city. The boroughs of Bury and Eccles (Salford) to the north of the city and Altrincham (Trafford) to the south are all very well connected by trams and buses, Bury and Altrincham are leafy and quite well heeled, Eccles not so much. Can anyone recommend these areas ?
