i wasnt inferring this (intentionally at least). I wasnt suggesting halal meat is cheaper than conventional meat. I was suggesting that you cant raise a chicken in the rose tinted way Plain Talker suggests halal animals are raised (ie 'a natural environment' and mollycoddled to the dinnerplate) and sell them at economy prices. The millions of Halal chickens killed every year dont each get the gentle handling, prayer and individual attention from a guy with his knife. They go on the same automated throat cutting machine as all the others.

As Kerangaroo alludes to, your romantic view of the Halal method is somewhat rose tinted or erm biased. The animals come from the same factory farms, on the same lorries and who really knows what goes on behind the slaughterhouse doors. You certainly dont unless you work in one. If the Halal animals have such a cushty life and death, how come the halal fried chicken places on the Wicker for example can sell the stuff so cheaply?

A friend of mine's girlfriend has 2 beloved house cats. He gets on with the cats ok but is no cat lover. She is talking about moving in with him (his house) but of course she wants to bring her cats. He's very happy to have her move in but wonders whether love will let him see past the scratched furniture, the cat fur getting everywhere, the random bits of poo on the floor (cat poo not GF!), the odd wet patch here and there, and the miaowing and scratching at the bedroom door throughout the night. Has anybody any experience of this? Will love see him through or will he eventually break and give her the ultimatum?

Seems to be mixed views on whether stunning is allowed.
