A Problem Promoting Sheffield ?
lil-minx92 replied to Victoria Stn's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
How dull! Cant imagine what could fill a weekend in those places either to be honest- Leeds especially. An afternoon shopping and thats about it ---------- Post added 30-11-2012 at 15:53 ---------- And it's a white elephant -
Sounds like thrush- try dipping it in yoghurt ---------- Post added 29-11-2012 at 17:00 ---------- But the extremes must be cut out for it to work efficiently for the majority. Hence the specialist / bespoke insurance market. High risks can use this market. Insurance is a business not a charity / society.

The govt has been steadily increasing the price of tobacco for years. Anybody who wants to smoke still smokes- they just pay more or break the law. Once the 45p (or whatever) minimum price per unit is introduced, expect it to be raised at each budget as they see that it is having no effect on problem drinking. It so easy. They just say clearly its been set too low and here's some research which shows if we increase it to X we can reduce alcohol abuse. End result- same problem exists, but the plebs fork out more of their hard earned. Alcohol duty will rise, but be absorbed by the retailer out of the extra they have to charge for the product. Net result- the increase in price drips through to the govt. It's a stealth tax

Excellent analysis! AndyGardener for PM!

This is the economy beer which is not strong lager- it's 2%. Probably impossible to drink enough volume to get drunk on. And I dont believe the bit about alcohol on sale for 15p litre. Only the big supermarkets sell at a loss. Why not just tell them to stop doing that and fine them if they do.
-
I think we can guess the answer to that. If the retailers pocket the extra money, the suppliers will simply put up their prices to get their bit. More tax for the govt. Whats sold to us as a health initiative is actually another stealth tax and a regressive one at that.
-
Some MP also said on the Today program that it was wrong that we can buy strong lager for 20p a can. Can anybody tell me where to buy strong lager for 20p a can?

How so? The tax was as good as agreed. The govt and Insurers just fell out over who would swallow any extra losses- the people again or the Insurers. -

How much would you pay to see The Rolling Stones?

By all accounts there were loads left and Im not surprised at that price. You can only trade on past glory for so long, and fans soon realise when they are having the wee taken out of them -

Exactly! But the govt is saying the insurers cant deny insurance to flood risk properties. So they insure them, and everybody pays £8 into a fund to help the flood victims if they need it. The insurers cant lose because they want the govt to guarantee to cover any shortfall (no scope for creative accounting there..). -
No - in the morning before lunch. What time do you have your first drink (alcoholic) on xmas day?

you should try a blind taste test and find out

I think you're getting off on this Coincidentally yesterday I was late for work and as I ran down the alley at the side of cathederall my panties (which were the type that tie up at one side) became undone and slipped down my legs nearly tripping me up. As somebody was walking up I just let them fall to the floor and left them rather than struggle with them. They were still there today. Shame as they were my sexiest pair. How was that for you?
