  1. I help to run a registered charity Community Hall and we are trying to successfully run cake and coffee afternoons. Can anyone recommend somewhere that I can buy individually wrapped butter portions and jam portions etc without having to have a trade card? I've looked at some of the well known traders and they seem to only sell massive quantities which may not keep so well. Also I wondered if it was cheaper to get baking items such as flour and caster sugar from the supermarket. Any help would be appreciated.
  2. Can I invite anyone who is looking for a venue to hold various activities such as coffee mornings/afternoons, parties, exercise classes, mother and toddler groups, rehearsals and educational projects to consider using our brand new hall on Newman Road, Wincobank. We are now open for bookings and further details can be obtained by emailing: [email protected]. The room is approximately 10m x 5m and there is also an adjoining kitchen area.
  3. Can anyone give me their experiences of Equity Release apart from looking on the internet and consulting financial/legal advice?
  4. I've recommended Andrew Hall (Andy) Joinery before when he fitted our new kitchen in May 2013 but since then we decided that some bookshelves would complete the look. Andy never changes. He is reliable, reasonable, excellent at what he does and can be trusted to do a first class job whatever the task. Today he came (with his new apprentice Lewis) to measure and fit the solid oak bookshelves which he had designed. They look beautiful - a true work of art. Sadly his singing hasn't improved since May (sorry Andy) but I wouldn't hesitate in recommending him for any joinery or building work. Thanks again Andy and I hope your business continues to go from strength to strength.
  5. I can fully recommend Sheffield Kitchen Outlet, just off Carlisle Street, for a first class service and reasonable prices. They stay open until 8pm on Wednesdays and I believe are open Saturday morning, if not the afternoon. If you want a decent joiner, contact Andy Hall (joiner Andy tel 07747026254) and he will go with you to choose your units and get you them at trade price. We saved quite a lot doing it this way and it only took them three weeks to be ready for fitting. Excellent and friendly staff. We spoke to Ben Gregory who did the design etc.
  6. Just wish to recommend Andrew (Andy) Hall Joinery and his other colleagues for doing a superb job fitting and planning our new kitchen. He went with us to choose the units etc from Sheffield Kitchen Outlet (who make them on site) and got them for us at trade price. He also helped us with getting the laminate flooring and glass splash backs. We found him to be very honest and reliable and always kept in touch with us either by texting or phoning to keep us up-to-date with progress. From the first phone call to the end of the job we couldn't fault him (apart from his singing lol). We thoroughly enjoyed having him do the work at a very reasonable price. Thanks Andy.
  7. Thanks to all of you for replying. Will remember next time I shop to take a magnet.
  8. Can anyone recommend a good brand of saucepans for an induction hob and the best place to get them from. I've been told that Cerculon are expensive but good.
  9. Many thanks for your recommendation. Will certainly check it out.
  10. My husband has written 2 short poems/stories (approx 10 pages each) for our young grandsons, had them printed and A5 bound. However, he now wishes he had had them illustrated as well. Does anyone know of an artist who would be prepared to look at the books with a view to doing illustrations and give an approximate price please?
  11. Hi SteveY Many thanks for your response though I have already been given your website information and will keep checking it out in the future.
  12. Hiya RazzleDazzle. Yes I have Facebook so will try your advice. Thanks for the reply.
  13. Hi Kegleigh. Many thanks for your reply. I will certainly consider your suggestion - not sure yet when I want to start learning - will probably have a read of the books I've requested from the library first (possibly one of which has been recommended from another contributor) and take it from there. Thanks again.
  14. Hi Lande. Many thanks for your advice. Will certainly have a look at the book you recommend and try and contact the business in Hillsborough. I can see that there will be many mistakes (possibly all of them eaten) along the way! Glad you replied to my request.
  15. Hello. Just wanted to know what equipment I would need to start me off. I'm not bothered about anything too elaborate but would love to know the basic techniques and terminology. Some simple suggestions like how to correctly ice a cake and then do some fancy piping etc would be a start. Also how to make some of the unusual shaped cakes.
