  1. I am sorry I can't offer any hlep - I usually turn to whiskey if all other pain remedies fail. Just wanted to say I sympathise with you as toothace is a terrible thing to have.
  2. I take a good look around at how it has changed
  3. I remeber the Marples 1984 onwards and more towards the late 80's. DJ was called Mick and then the DJ after that was called ?????? he ran off with the landlords wife and then the DJ after that was called Jason - oh happy days
  4. OMG - I probably know you! I used to go in there. Start in the Marples down to 'The Garden' back up to the claymore, across to the Mulberrry, round to the Blue Bell and then onto the pub at the back of the Cathedral (I think Richard managed that pub himself?) and then over to the golden Ball, Stonehouse and back down to the Marples.
  5. I was there in 1984 for a while - made a few friends too
  6. Well not sure what the salary of teachers is now but when I was teaching back in the UK 4 years ago as a NQT it was approx 18,000 pounds, and then the following year - 21,000 pounds
  7. Should try driving here. My hubby is a professional driver and says of all the places he has driven, here is the worse. He swears they give licenses out in the cereal boxes!!! I was followed to work this morning by a woman in a red car with blue eyes and brown eye make-up on and a green pin in her hair - all this seen through my rear view mirror - I kid you not
  8. Thanks to all posters - for taking time out to reply. My family are still in Sheffield - and they seem to like it - so it can't be all that bad. And I will stop reading the Star's horror stories on crime ridden Sheffield.
  9. Thanks for that Joe:) It is so easy to get drawn in by the media and it doesn't loook good. I hear that Nottingham also has quite a reputation as being a 'dangerous city'. I just feel glad that I opted out - but sad at the same time as part of me is still in sheffield.
  10. Interested on views from people living in Sheffield today. Is it how I remember it, or has it changed? Does living there suit people or do people live there through jobs/family/ect? My son moved back to Sheffield recently, and I still read 'The Star' online, which sends shivers down my spine when reading about all the bad stuff that happens there. Is it a safe place to be compared to other cities? thanks
  11. My gran lives on Craddock and I went all way through Norfolk from Nursery to the comp;)
  12. Name rings a bell but ... I was at Norfolk between 1979 - 83
  13. Think you may be wrong there - apostrophe used for omission and for possession photo is an abbreviated word used for photograph - so photo's would be possessive not an ommission. What it should say is photos ( I presume you meant more than one - plural?)
  14. I disagree - they don't taste the same as they did when it was called Becketts! I cam back to Sheffield last month and tried some - not the same at all
  15. I used to know the couple who had the pub for a while back in the late 80's - about 89 or could have been 1990 Was rough then and I presume it is worse so now
  16. Lol Howie How wierd is that - The first thing I spotted was that error! You know what they say 'great minds think alike and that fools seldom differ'
  17. Walkley area does. My Grandad was Thomas Goodison - I think he had cousins/neices in Walkely area. Also some family on City road near the cemetry. My grandad died in 1988. Sas
  18. Yeah - I recall somewhere on the lanes at Meadowhall selling them too:)
  19. Hey I recall the Easter bonnet parades when I was younger... My grandad and grandma used to go there along with my aunt and uncle names of Tommy goodison and Irene and aunt called Vera , unlce called Arthur - that would have been in the 60's and 70's Sarah
  20. Goodison - I wonder if we are related? My family name also.
  21. Flaming brill post - that is just how I remeber the place to be - cheers for the laugh:thumbsup:
