  1. ta hatter! i'm no painter - just copied from a photo, did a few different ones and gave them away as christmas presents. its quite hard to let go of stuff when you've spent ages doing it and you're quite proud of it!! but definitely think there is a local market for sheffield scenery and you're very talented so you should do a little exhibition at least. nb - i also did a cross stitch of the tinsley towers, and one of henderson's relish (i've added pics to photobucket) - got a bit sheffield/crafty obsessed when i was on maternity leave! http://s1156.photobucket.com/user/stitchyshef/media/P1010113_zps04a32eac.jpg.html
  2. Hi hatter - love your painting of the tinsley towers! i tried painting them a few years back - link to pic might hopefully work... Gave that picture to my sister, not sure how much she liked it as its quite big but she hung it on the wall anyhow! Also Cupola gallery in S6 often have local stuff on show. http://s1156.photobucket.com/user/stitchyshef/media/tinsleytowers_zpsc4bf96c8.jpg.html
  3. This is a disgrace. Petition signed and shared
  4. Beat that for a night out, what a combo!! Send lionel over to watch the roller derby first, he can even have a go at skating if he likes!!
  5. Hi everyone This Saturday (8th June) come down to Skate Central to see Sheffield Steel Rollergirls in their upcoming intraleague roller derby bout. This is a really fun night out – we have 2 teams, the Steel Panthers and the Death Leopards – who will win the catfight this time?! If you don’t know what roller derby is; basically 5 players from each team skate around an oval track, one player from each team is the ‘jammer’ and she tries to bully and barge her way through the pack of ‘blockers’ to score points. Cue lots of crashes, falls, fancy footwork and amazing skating. It’s all done with the help of referees on skates, non-skating officials, a sin bin which is always busy and announcers so you can follow it all. Doors open at 7pm, team warm-ups and skate-outs from 7.15 onwards. The bout starts at 7.45pm and its 2 halves of 30 minutes. There is also a bar on the rink with lager/cider/spirits/wine/soft drinks. I’ve also heard that there will also be hot roast pork sandwiches. We always have a selection of buns and cakes for sale as well as team t-shirts, badges etc. After watching the roller derby and supping a few drinks you can then stay for the roller disco afterwards – just £2 including skate hire, lockers available if required. And there’s some really good music too making it a great opportunity to give roller skating a go without loads of kids around! Sorry but this event is OVER 18s ONLY due to there being alcohol for sale and the venue’s requirement. Tickets on the door are £5. Hope to see you there!! You never know you may love what you see and want to give roller derby a go! (Skate Central is the old Silver Blades ice skating rink, its on Queens road just outside of town. You go upstairs to get to the rink, there’s a ‘Roller Skating’ sign above the door. You can get the number 53 bus, or the blue tram Granville Rd stop. Or you can drive and park outside, its pay and display. Anything else you need to know ask away!) https://www.facebook.com/events/339916169467671/ http://www.sheffieldsteelrollergirls.com/
  6. hi, there is a group of us looking for some first aid basic training, we are in S6. We have been talking about getting someone out to do it in one of our houses. Would you do a weekday evening? How much would the cost be for you to come out to us? Thanks
  7. I agree about 'toddler' portions, as a 1 - 2 yr old doesn't eat that much of a sandwich and I hate seeing loads go to waste. I would also like it if cafes did dilute squash in a toddler friendly cup for a cheap price rather than having to buy them fruit shoots or horrible cartons of pink/orange juice. Fruit pieces and fromage frais always go down well. On a side note, there is a new 'child friendly' cafe that has opened near me. It started so well but the food has got greasier and greasier. I keep giving it another chance as it is perfect for under 5's with a little play area but the food is appalling as well as other problems with the place. So hopefully you might be taking over there lol!!
  8. I was gutted to find out its the term AFTER they are 3. Thought my daughter would get her 3 free mornings from her birthday last week, but the cut off is end of march and so she doesn't qualify until september!! I've never heard of a nursery that gives the free places from age 3.
  9. I did this course 2 years ago. It was good but it was very busy, there were loads of groups on the ice at the same time. it was only 45 mins a session, the first 5 mins was skating round the rink to warm up then into groups of about 10 with an instructor going width ways across the rink practising different skills. It was good and i improved but i didn't sign up for the next level.
  10. Hi, Do you know if you will have any moses baskets? I'm after a cheap (but still decent condition) one, plus a buggy for the grandparents. I'll still be coming along to hopefully stock up on clothes though! Thanks.
  11. Do they do parties at the butterfly centre in Rotherham? If not you could organise your own and take a picnic, they have indoor and outdoor picnic areas I think. They also have a great sandpit area, perfect for a 3yr old.
