  1. great comment john, oh for more people like you... nice to see some common sense...
  2. get a quality juicer, champion juicer is the best. if you want to detox just drink plenty of water and just eat brown rice. On first day don't eat anything at all, just drink water, then do the rice thing for the rest of the week. Thats my advise for what it's worth. some good detox stuff from http://www.specialist-herbal.com/ good herbs etc, do not buy stuff from holland and barrat as most if there stuff is not the best quality shall we say. (again, just my opinion (and a few others!)) juice raw beetroot, but watch it cos it can be quite potent, dilute with apple and carrot is always good. also Parsley is good for a detox but again is quite potent and not to be taken on it's own. you also need a good juicer to process it.
  3. it is my birthday on 21st and I am going to planet Zog the Saturday before I think, I have no plans other than that but I am aslo up for doing stuff, meeting new people etc.... not even sure where Zog is but I shall find out unless someone beats me to it. If you have never been then you should try it at least once. nicest people you are likely to meet anywhere ((:
  4. I have a car and prefer to drive but I cycle to work in the centre of town from bungreave. Taxing cyclists is nuts, we all pay enough bloody tax! I also must say that as a cyclist I don't obay the same rules as cars as if I did I would get flattened, I cycle on the pavement for much of the journey, again as I value my life more than getting moaned at by the police or the odd car pedestrian. I I am lucky that the pavements between along my journey are very large and the wicker is wide for cycling along, I stop at any junctions where cars might emerge from and try to be considerate. If I pass people walking I slow right down and keep out of there way. There are some good car drivers about but at 8am to many people are half asleep, tuning the radio, applying makup, yawning, still drunk etc etc . I have had a close encounter with a buss, the driver I am sure saw me but assumed I would get out of the way. It was a shame for him that there was a police car close that watched him nearly kill me who went and had serious words.. As for insurance, how many car drivers who knock cyclists off offer to pay for the damage to the bike and clothes and new helmet??? none would be my guess, they would be to busy worrying about the small scratch on the car. Pedestrians are also a danger to cyclists as if they cannot hear a car coming they assume the roads are clear with out even looking. consideration is needed on all sides.
  5. sheffield needs a bottomless pit, it would be great, we could all chuck stuff in it.. all the scallys, starting with the one that stole my bike... the car thats been abandoned in my parking space thats on private property that the police will not touch... many possibilities (:
  6. good to hear that no one esle likes Sara Cox. I am shocked that she has lasted this long and even more bemused as to why the BBC would put her on on the afternoon. She should have been sacked, she is rubish and very annoying. A gerbil would be more entertaining...
  7. Corp on Mondays is very popular, over 1000 people in for the last few, just a shame that very few of them are over 17!
  8. arches has trauma every year, can't see it closing tho but you never know!!! lets hope not. I live quite close so the walk home is easy!

  11. Hmmm, quickk one for any dvd burning types out there.... I have just got a decent laptop with a dvd writer in it, it reads all software, watches DVD's everything with no problems. I bought some blank dvd's from PC world (only place open) the are +r disks which are correct for the burner I have. i have burned using nero 6, selecting dvd copy and also by dragging files in the traditional manner. the disks have finsihed burning with no errors, then laptop is not able to read them, they gurgle in the drive for a while but are never read. If I take the dvd I just burned and stick it in my dvd drive on my pc at work it reads it fine! WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY ???? i have not tried an cdr in it yet but this makes no sense, it sould either work every where or no where but to not be readable o the pc i burned them on is just plain daft! why do the disks record with no errors then not be readable on the same drive??? any ideas please let me know. the laptop is brand new model, the firmwae and xp are up to date, the disks should be ok as it recognises the blanks and will write to them??? Argh!!!! me being a support engineer should not have these problems, I have rang the h/w support number to see if this is a known issue and it's not as far as i can tell.... any ideas??
  12. Just wondering if any of you nice people were going to corporation tomorrow night?? I am sat at work Soooooooo very bored so thought I would start this Oh, so interesting thread!
  13. if you take the back off you will see (normally on the rear corner) a large lump of plastic which has 2 screw / holes / adjusters (pots) one of these will increase the brightness but when you turn it up you will need to look at the monitor and watch, as if you turn it up to much you will see the scan lines. the other pot adjusts the focus. Its quite straight forward but depends on your general screw-driver ability. good luck.

  22. are you sure your fridge is working correctly and is cold enough. the house I used to live in had 2 fridges and in one fridge milk would always be off before the sell by date, not sure if it was because it was kept in the door of the fridge but some fridges do get much colder than others....
  23. Hey there how yah doing, I'm Iain not Nick but hey... Listen now that the freshers are in town most places are fair game without ID, depends what sort of night you're up for ... If you like dressy places like Halcyon, Forum, Sola you might have some problems getting in as the door policy is pretty harsh even when you're 25. But as for Cavendish, Varsity, Frog & Parrot and all the studenty places are pretty much ok. Anyway what you doing drinkin at 16 you should be grounded for going to an allnighter and not getting back till 6 - 5 dyas later! Good luck - if one things for sure the natives are friendly . take it e z i
