Can anyone recommend a pub that serves decent real ale in the city centre that also has Sky Sports and will be showing England match on Friday?

If there's a smell of fish then it's probably the stuff they've chucked away because it's been going around the conveyer belt for too long. Really fresh raw fish shouldn't smell of anything except the sea. It certainly shouldn't smell fishy. They probably don't have very good access to outdoor bins so any fish thrown away will be sat for ages eventually stinking the place out. The stuff you actually eat won't smell fishy at all.

I've bought them from the market and Beanies sometimes have them. They're bloody lethal though so be careful! I once made a bottle of chilli sauce with 24 of the things and it gave me heart palpitations and I couldn't breathe properly. I'm pretty hardcore with chillis too.

I used to work in bingo hall that had been converted from an old cinema. In one of the stair wells that had been closed off to the public for many years someone had written on the wall 'Heath out, Powell in!'. I've always thought it was funny that those walls had been untouched for years leaving that bit of historical graffiti.

Terrific Bed and Breakfast in the Lake District
Ralphus replied to Kashul's topic in General Discussions
Not a big fan of Bowness- it's too touristy. I don't go to the lakes to play in amusement arcades. Ambleside and Keswick are much better. Brantfell House B&B in Ambleside is the best we've stayed in, the owners are lovely and the breakfasts are fantastic. -
Wasn't there a kid who died of malnutrition a couple of years ago because its parents insisted on giving it a strict vegan diet? It can't be that good for you. Maybe it's healthier than a diet full of saturated fat and junk food but it's not better than a healthy omnivorous diet (limited amounts of red meat, lean white meat and lots of fish, plus lots of fruit and veg).

Hallam Holistics do massages at Hillsborough leisure centre on Fridays. I had a full body massage the other day and it was excellent. They do hot stone massages which are supposed to be brilliant so i might have to treat myself soon. Hallam Holistics: 0798 282 3312 http://www.hallamholistics.co.uk

Where do I buy veal and dried porcini mushrooms?
Ralphus replied to kittenta's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
On the issue of cruelty veal is ok as long as it's rose veal. If it's white veal it means it's been kept in crates to stop muscle development which keeps flesh pale. You can order rose veal online, just type rose veal into google. -
Who would buy free range chicken in Sheffield?
Ralphus replied to blueandwhite's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
If you can't afford to eat free range chicken breasts then buy thighs instead. I've just bought 3 thighs (which feed two of us) from the butchers in Crookes (Dickinson's I think, opposite Punchbowl) and it only cost £2.15. Chicken thighs are delicious in currys and casseroles and free range thighs are far superior in taste to supermarket breast fillets. I once put both in a curry and you could really tell the difference. I vowed never to eat supermarket and to stick with free range again. -
I think Crookes Tandoori (used to be Maria's) do one on a sunday night. Never been though so don't quote me. Personally I don't see the point in all you can eat curry as i'm always completely stuffed after eating just one curry, and if it's freshly cooked to order instead of sitting around on hotplates it tastes much better. Same goes for chinese too.
