The cheapest is not always the best. I'd recommend you contact three or four companies for a quote and go for the one that inspires the most confidence. Please ensure they're licensed by Sheffield City Council for your own safety. Also it would be better for you deal with a company that specialise in Airport Travel instead of just a standard private hire company. They'll have the experience and knowledge to ensure you have a pleasant start and finish to your holiday Hope this helps

Please visit our website http://www.firstclasstraveluk.com or contact us on 01142686668 We are a Sheffield licensed company and have a fleet of executive vehicles. All of our vehicles and chauffeurs are licences by Sheffield Council and are trained by 'The British Chauffeurs Gild' The cost of travel would be £200 each way and you are guaranteed a fantastic service

We were very pleased with Sheffex. Had a very good response from being involved and will be there for the next one

I hope you're legal and have the required operators license, licensed vehicle, badge and insurance to carry paying passengers?

Vehicle sharing is common, but this does't mean that people sharing the vehicles are unlicensed. Quiet often two brothers or a farther and son will purchase a vehicle together and share the vehicle for work. As long as they are licensed, what is the problem? There are very strict checks in place by City Taxis to ensure that all their vehicles and drivers are licensed. No company can afford to ignore this, as they can loose their operators license and thus have no business left. To this day I have never heard of or come across any black cab or private hire vehicle working for a big company such as City Taxis driven by an unlicensed driver. I have heard comments such as the ID looked different to the driver, then if that is the case, then a call should be made to the Sheffield Licensing and reported. Coming on this forum and making unsubstantiated accusations achieves nothing and gives the image that most of the drivers are driving illegally

Do you have any evidence for this type of vehicle sharing apart from your own suspicions. I know many drivers both black cabs and private hire and have never come a cross this type of sharing. A brand new black cab can cost more than £30k and I can't imagine anyone risking their investment and lively hood. City taxis along with other taxi companies have strict procedures in place to ensure all vehicles have the correct insurances and licenses in place at all time! In this instance the op should contact city taxis or the sheffield city council to obtain the insurance details. Both organisations will have this information on file. I suspect the driver is just trying to protect his no claims bonus and prevent his insurance from increasing

I think you should pay a visit to the council test centre and see the standard private hire vehicles have to achieve to be licensed. -
Van with 8 passenger seats need some advice

There are two ways you can do this. One is to go and pass your PSV test and you have to operate within their criteria. The second option is to sit and pass a Taxi test. Once you have got your private hire licence, then you'll need to obtain an operators licence to be able to take your own bookings. Before investing in a vehicle make sure the vehicle you buy is compatible with the guide lines by the sheffield city council -

I have been in the Airport Transfer Business for the past 12 years. The market is very competitive. The best advise I can give is for you to define your target market and target them. Trying to do too much at once will only make life difficult. Best of luck and if you need my opinion on any of your ideas, just get in touch. http://www.uk-airporttransfers.com -
We can transport you to East Midlands Airport and back again for £150.00 in total. We are a Sheffield licensed company with a modern fleet of vehicles. We would make available for you a Mercedes Vito, or VW Transporter, where you would travel in comfort and style. Please call us on 01142216517 for further information.

There will be very good reason why this chap has lost his private hire licences and for this reason should be challenged.
