Hmmm ... as i stated , they dont dig up the road surface to put anything in or under it at all .... just grind a slit (probably 1cm wide or so) with an abrasive wheel thing then fill in the slit with liquid tar which then solidifies .... at the location mentioned today they certainly did not put any wires/cables or other equipment in or under the road surface .... just made the "chevron/rhombus" slits & filled em straight in !

seen them doing this today at junction of pitsmoor/rutland/minna rd what is the purpose of the slits ground into the tarmac at traffic lights , they can often be sorta chevron shaped or rhombus shaped .... basically they grind a thin slit out & dont dig up the road surface ... they just fill the slit in with liquid tarmac which then solidifies ... thats about best i can describe em ... what purpose do they serve ?

lol there is no destination as such on OAP tickets (well least not on first oap tkts) ... just says SY OAP FREE or summat like that whether they go 1 stop or full route! In south yorks the operators get a flat rate from the PTE therefore the ticket doesnt say a destination however in derbyshire and on some buses that come into south yorks do say a destination because in derbyshire (and other areas) the operators are paid on the distance travelled therefore if the driver puts in a greater distance the council (eityher county / district etc) pay the higher rate for the journey and ultimatley the rate payers pay for it !

there is no limit to any single journey after 19.00 (not 18.59) it is a £1 flat fare ! (note this applies sun - thu only) ... fri & sat normal fare applies however some buses that run in sheffield are operated by the rotherham depot & i am not certain but i think rotherham operated services DO NOT have the £1 fare , these would include numbers 17 , 32 , 69 , x78 plus a few more . for £1 after 19.00 you could get on a 75 at batemoor & go to high green for £1 if you wished

can they demolish it tho ?...... part of it is a listed building .... grade 2 i think , but not exactly certain

you must have one hell of a large head if you got a cap , as you state , which reached from heeley to burngreave !!!

the steward whom i know very very well indeed has tried everything , its the area ..... darnall has a high percentage of asians & other ethnic communities who would not use the venue for the purpose of alcoholic refreshment if it was free!! indeed it is nothing to do with lack of turnover , even in these current times which has caused its demise ...... believe me i know its sad , i have been a patron of the place for 25 yrs at least & was in there the night before it closed .... seen many a top turn there both as a child & adult....i will miss a lotta the folks (some real characters) that went in there RIP Darnall Libs

Dear all you ignorant motorists that drive using your mobiles , just how thick are you ? I drive a bus for a living , today i must have seen at least 30 of you driving whilst using a handheld phone .... do you realise , when you are in the vicinity of a bus/tram & possibly quite a few taxis , how many of you are filmed doing so & how many times? .... i personally cant wait for you to cause an accident & once police arrive tell them to contact my employers to retrieve the damning evidence , DRIVE SAFE , WHETHER IM ONE OF SHEFFIELDS DISLIKED BUS DRIVERS OR NOT ..... I DO NOT WANT MYSELF OR MY PASSENGERS TO BECOME A VICTIM OF YOUR IGNORANCE !!! most public transport nowadays have cameras forward / backward & side facing so the chances are you will be seen ...... about time the police reviewed a few of the hard drives off the buses !

ok ... assuming thats the case (not saying ur wrong) .... but what is the actual purpose ..... will they widen / narrow roads ..... alter traffic light timings ? ... alter junctions to speed up/slow down the volume ?or what else .... obviously dependant on the results of the counts .... they must have some plans or other once all info is collated

At quite a few locations throughout Sheffield there are laid accross the carriagway in the road .... 2 black wires which feed into a metal box usually chained to a lamp post .... what are they for actually .... catch speeding motorists ? .... count traffic volume in that area ? .... or is there some other purpose once all the info / data at all these locations has been collected , what is intended to be done ... road alterations/speed cams installed/speed alterations ... or just what exactly ? planner1 .. where are you ???
